I want to find out which Cuban Cigar has the highest rate of member satisfaction (and the lowest). I will run through the 30 most popular cigars during April and will provide an ongoing chart to see how the cigars stack up.

It should go without saying to only vote if you have actually tried one

Feel free to post your experiences and thoughts on the thread.

I voted average here, but honestly I haven't had a lot of "average" Monte 4s. I find them to either be "good" or "disappointing". Pretty polarized.

I voted average, and while I do always have a box on hand, they just don't deliver the level of in your face flavor (as in a Party Short ) that I like.

Nothing wrong with a good, everyday/average Monte 4. When they are on, they are like a vanilla milkshake. The usual experience is "OK that was good, next.."

Cheers,

Dave

Good call.

Monte 4's have been treated me good since since day 1, literally. It was the 1st real cigar I ever smoked during my 1st trip to Cuba. I love em and rarely disappoint.

Usually disappointing. Have such high hopes and get an under-filled one, rank one, or some other bizarre cigar anomaly. That said, I have a pretty good inventory going on these hoping they will turn around so I can see what all the fuss is about. Now, Trinidad Reyes; there's a smoke!

Monty 4 has a special place in my hart always! So it's a treat every time I light one up. Although there is some inconsistency in quality.

I would say I'm very polarized on them. I really truly love a good one, but seem to get about 50% good, 50% horrid. Not a lot of middle ground with these. I have seen a Monte 4 do some seriously weird stuff (burn wise, flavor wise, etc. lol)

I am so with you, Tarks. The Monte 4 was my first CC, around 1992, and it totally opened my eyes. I will never forget that cigar, and will be forever loyal to the mighty Monte 4.

I agree - I voted average, in that they are a stick that does seem to be all over the place.

That said, it's been a fair while since I had a disappointing one (anything sub-86/87 or so). I find that's because over the past few years I've gotten decently adept at picking out nice stock of these when at a b&m or in Cuba, and also especially since my conversion to the Czar's HQ/PSP program on this stuff. My HQ box of these is quite nice, but the PSP box is absolutely divine!

So while the production issues lead me to also vote these as an average, I will still always have them and enjoy them, because from here on out I will have no problems on sourcing and stocking exceptional specimens of these!

Voted average on this one.

Like others have said, Monte 4's were my "gateway" cigar and started me down the path to discovering the great-wide world of cigars. It was the first cigar I had that made me sit back and really appreciate the flavours and aromas that a quality cigar can bring.

I still like them on occasion, but it's not the "wow" experience it once was for me.

I've probably only had half a dozen singles from different boxes. I must be lucky, as I haven't had a bad one yet. The last was superb - one of the best cigars I've smoked.

I must be lucky - never had a bad one ;)

When I first smoked a Monte #4 my tastes tended toward mild, flavorful cigars. Now I like an occasional mild cigar but mostly smoke Partagas, Cohiba, and Ramon Allones when I want a "happy ending". ;)

The box I just burnt through (only a couple left) was extremely good! The quality and construction was perfect, every one had great draw, and the flavors were extremely consistent through the box. But it seems that my experiences have been better than others---goes to show you what can happen to a cigar based on a box you may have.

I voted average.

I had quite a lot of these as they are quite good and have a lovely vanilla thing going on but not overly complex.

However when I consider the other CC I had before and since I have to say I had better.

It is still a good smoke and I always have some singles around.

I should be ordering a PSP soon that hopefully with the grace of the Czar will turn me around to become a No 4 fan.

For the Montecristo No. 4, I voted "Generally Average". That isn't to say that I haven't had stellar examples of this cigar, but I've had some horrid episodes as well. Overall, most of them have been "Average", so that is how I voted. With that said, it is possible that my expectations may have been too elevated with this smoke as it has historically, to my knowledge, been the single best selling CC in terms of units sold. These days, I'd rather smoke a Por Larranaga Petit Corona, Cohiba Siglo II, or Trindaad Reyes or Bolivar Petit Corona.

Same camp here. I have two HQ boxes and one PSP box (resting). Very rich and creamy smooth, with a nice bite on the draw. So, I voted always good experience.
