Just as in wine some people prefer the highly extracted and heavy on the tannins wine in the glass others a more balanced wine which Is gained through the aging process. During the early 1900’s the Upper Peninsula of Michigan had the largest copper mine in the world. You could find “float copper” just lying on the ground uncovered by receding glaciers. Along with the copper mining business the lumber business was in full swing in both upper and lower Michigan. Virgin 250 year old white pines covered the area. A series of towns and villages sprung up every 15 miles or so to support these thriving businesses. Many of these little villages had their own cigar manufacturers. It seems that almost every man smoked cigars and several per day. When copper became unprofitable to mine and the land was clear cut the Copper and Lumber Barrons left the area. Today what remains are dairy farms and cherry and apple vineyards. I spend the summer in this little part of heaven! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2002 on is a crap shoot! My experience is one good bottle out of three. No more cellaring white burgundy for me. Buy as needed and drink. Learn to like young white burgundy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just checked my 150 qt cooler that I used all summer to store about 20 boxes. I used Boveda 320’s. I kept this unit in the closet of my summer home in Northern Michigan. The units Humidity and temp stayed in the mid 60’s. I closed this place up in Mid October and left the heat on 52’F. I visited the place over this weekend and found Temp and Humidity in the low 60’s! I did add 3 Xcar Fans before I left in October and as you would expect batteries were dead. Changed the batteries, Boveda 320’s were still soft and full and secured the cooler with 2 bungees to prevent and seal opening. I’ll report when I come back in May. For any French wine drinkers out there (me included) use Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape as an example. On release the price was $39/blt 10 years ago and today $59-$69. Not withstanding the”Great Recession” pricing continued to increase 3-5% including vintage implications. During this time competitors starting expanding their line BUT within the existing vineyard! To keep up Pegau took the best located/oldest vines within their CdP vineyard and created a second wine, Cuvée da Capo (approx $300/blt) plus others! Prior to these new releases all the wine went into the Reservee, $39 10 years ago. This example translates across the entire wine industry.
