If you're referring to Flyingcigar, Nino states the blog will stay up as an archive with only sporadic galleries of trips, friends contributions and special events added.3 points

I agree with you gents, the first third is very nice most of the time- however, on a really grat specimen, I love the transition into the last third. With the best 5% of cigars I have enjoyed, there is some sort of magic about the final change of flavour/aroma. Always bring a toothpick in case Cheers, Alex2 points

The older I get the more I realize that people who actually do things are easy targets. You can never satisfy everybody and in this world of "instant opinion' you are fair game for all and sundry...and that is fair enough. "Passionistas" are often their own worst enemies". Then again what would the world be without them. The only sane response is to "not really give a rats arse". Do it because you love it. let the cards fall as they may. leave a beautiful canvas of work. You will be in the top 1% of the field regardless simply because you had the cojones to move the chain. This is not about MRN, But for all of you who indeed "move the chain" in anything you do. I tip my hat.2 points

Probably at first, and then secondary market will drive prices up. Just like the 1966. People will buy to resell and profit more than to smoke imo.2 points

CA serves a purpose for the general cigar lover and high end lifestyle I like the Connoisseur corner w reviews about vintage cigars I did bring w me the Cuba issue down to Havana, very useful As far as the Top 25, it holds no merit overall but their picks of Cubans in 2013 was spot on IMHO but there should of been more on that list but it doesnt make CA any money so we will never see 5-15 Cubans ever on that list The Cuban forums are a joke anymore w regards to the trolls that sign up and start trouble, there are some decent members there but for the most part a bunch of jackasses impersonating others talking about other cigar boards Bart2 points

I am subscribed to the magazine and here's how it goes: flip through for 5-10 minutes then throw in a pile. Not sure why I still get it... I like the HQ images of the cigars and sometimes the collectors corner gets me dreaming. Most of the magazine is BS and I have only been on the site acouple times to read article about Cuba. I get so much more knowledge and fun out of reading posts daily here on FOH- plus it's free and there isn't this snobbery like the mag has2 points

Custom roller was visiting Toronto a couple of weeks ago and I asked him to roll me a lonsdale. He searched through his wrapper leaf and found a beauty of a wrapper to make an extra long shaggy foot lonsdale for me. It maxed out at 10.5 inches and took 2 hours to smoke. a beauty. I am calling it the Tommy Gun.1 point

Had a Libertador last night. Holy smoke! This went directly in on my top three list! Size, smell, taste! Spicy at lift-off but after a few puffs it turned smooth and tasty, all the way to the nub. Nuts and toasted tobacco, lots of sweet honey notes. Some ammonia on the exhale, but that was to be expected. Box from OCT 13. My humble knowledge say that this cigar must have great aging potential.1 point

Rule of thumb, if you see a great white when you are in the water, then you are usually okay. It's when you don't see it that you are gone. From my mobile phone1 point

What's the observation? They smoked 1/3 of each of 3 cigars from Cuba and rated them? Any establishment that also puts a 9 in front of any number for a rating of the Monte Open should be immediately shut down, burnt to the ground and banished to a deserted island!1 point

I've done a few horizontals, same Marca different vitolas. Interesting to note the blend differences across sizes. May have to do a Sir Winston vertical '04, '06, '08, '09, '13 if I can find 10 hours or so - Father's Day?1 point

Bring a few in. Go visit Stogies Cigar bar. No cutting fees, decently priced drinks, decent ventilation. Do make a trip to their LCDH. Awesome lounge there, great bar selection too. You will have to smoke their stock. There's a good selection of aged sticks too. A bit out of the way is Rib N Reef. A high end steak restaurant with an amazing cigar lounge. Smaller than Stogies but it has excellent ventilation.1 point

I plan on doing one this summer with Monte Espi's from '86, '96, and '06 and I'll do my best to take notes and review each one. I have a feeling it will be a long and delicious day1 point

Do not trust the rating system, cannot afford the watches, golf packages,or intimate secluded hotels,do not understand the fashion sense. It is a lifestyle publication for those who want to aspire to that lifestyle, while those who live the lifestyle have no time for the magazine.1 point

okay, all i have done is comment on the film i saw on one of the farms around strasbourg. it was not a farm film but done from outsiders - i don't think that the farm even knew it had been set up tho not sure on that. so it was not what they wanted us to see. in fact, i think the filmmakers were rather disappointed they didn't find something to expose. i am not saying i support the practice, just relating what i saw. they were not shoving tubes anywhere. rather, the geese were doing it all themselves. there was no pus, no pallor. and with respect, where the hell did all the last part of that come from? none of it has ever been mentioned by me, let alone supported. and to link it in to one comment, in the manner you have, that was nothing more than a report of a film i saw is more than a bit offensive. i would have thought i had more posts on this forum than anyone to make it very clear i would be utterly opposed to that sort of behaviour. as for the look on the face of birds and attributing human emotions, i've kept and bred birds since i was a little kid - finches, quails, parrots and others. as well as endless other pets. i think what you are suggesting re "misery" is, with respect, a load of crap. a sick animal is something different. a vet or scientist might be able to tell us whether a bird even has the facial muscles to allow it to give such an impression.1 point
