Punch Punch RAE Dic 2014

This Punch Punch continued my streak of Punch cigars in the last week that were both outstanding and full off 'Cuban Twang'. At nearly 4½ years of age, it didn't seem that long ago that I had the last one from this box, and I distinctly remember that it was more woody. This had that sour citrus tart or 'Cuban Twang' flavour in spades and a little leather and cream. A little one-dimensional but I don't mind them when they are like this. There was no cloves, wood or spice to speak of though.

It just goes to show how much cigars from the same cab or box can differ in construction, flavour and aging!

MAR 2018...is RyJ Churchill making a comeback? This is better than my 2015 box. In the 1990s the RyJ Churchill was my favorite along with the Lusitania

Hoya Elegantes GOS May 18  second one from this batch .. pretty mild; creamy cedar, creamy leather & creamy hay eventually . Builds as it goes but pretty average honestly. Maybe a c+ to b-.

Paired with a collective arts No 8 for and from our Canadian brethren...fruity. dank and piney..

A delicious H. Upmann Connoisseur No. 1, something 2018 box code (don't have it handy, LOL).

Important thing is that it's pretty well rested, and smoking beautifully.  The flavors are all there, and it pairs well with a glass of orange juice.

I'm having a tough time loving HDM. The San Juan at times shows stone fruits that makes me think this marca can be awesome. But mostly I detect bland flavors. Am I wrong?

The short answer is no. The long answer is that Hoyo de Monterrey is a light-strength and can be a light-bodied marca which errs itself more easily to blandness.

Confirmed that I still don’t care much for Encantos.

The Dip 2 afterwards was better than the one yesterday (was gifted by a buddy earlier tonight). Still no box purchase for me.

Have you tried the Epicure No. 1? I don't really like the #2, but the No.1 I've had has been spectacular, with coffee bean and cream and fruit.

I am not a huge fan of HdM either. Though I have some aged DCs I've yet to try...

I *think* I've tried the Epi 1, but don't remember. I've tried 3 or 4 dif HdMs and none have really wowed me. I will keep giving them more chances as I'm not fully convinced.
