KB24 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 comes down stairs on Saturday morning around 10:30 PST as I lay comfortably on the couch in my new robe from Target watching football and proceeds to show me a positive pregnancy test. She also goes off this whole tangent about how "odd" the test looks. Well 3 tests later, all positive, she is pregnant with our first child. No clue on whether it's a boy or a girl. She has her first doctor's visit Thursday. When I finally catch my breath and calm down from all the excitement I will fire up something to celebrate. Just thought I would share the news! -Patrick p.s. I guess no more smoking in the office.

My office sits right next door to the soon to be nursery and obviously 2nd hand smoke isn't good for pregnant ladies. I told her smoking will only take place out back or in the garage.

Buy all the cigars that you can and stock up as many as possible in the next nine months. Regardless of how cool your wife seems with your cigars now, things change and guilt trips over ANY of YOUR personal expenditures will happen once there is a child. Her shoe/handbag addiction; however, will only increase and be seen as somehow justifiable b/c you do want her to look good, right?

No words can describe the enjoyment of seeing them grow and develop as a person, it is something one must witness firsthand. ... and the best words of advice I ever received - 'Expect the worst, hope for the best'. I have also found this analogy to be very accurate - 'Your kid's do unto you as you did unto your parents'. Best wishes and enjoy the ride.
compitaveggie Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 My wife got a call from the doctor and he said she was pregnant as well. She didn't believe it so she also took three test to confirm. She goes to see the Doctor tomorrow. I am sooo happy right now. How funny we found out on the same day. Congrats kb24 Jose

Now, as I see it, you have about nine months to seal up the office and add active ventilation. It is a normal part of pregnancy called "nesting". Women put together the nursery. Men make preparations to be able to continue life as they knew it before there were children messing up their plans. Get to work!
