Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted October 14 Popular Post Posted October 14 I'm pretty new to the whole watch collecting thing. I bought a Stainless/Platinum Yachtmaster 23 years ago, and have worn it every day since I bought it, until I recently decided it was time for something new. I only was considering sports watches, as I never really got into dress watches. But my journey led me to the dress watch I recently bought, which I absolutely love. Now I am finding myself much more into dress watches than sports watches. I have been doing a lot of reading, and watching YouTube videos. They really are engineering marvels mixed with fine art. I love the simple time only watches, and the perpetual calendars, all the way up to the grand complications watches. Any F.P. Journe fans out there? They may be my favorite brand at this moment. I think this is my grail... 11

I think this is my grail... FP Journe are cool. A bit flashy for my taste, but I do like some of their less complicated watches. I know that there is a lot of drama surrounding the brand and the founder. Unclear how much of that drama is warranted. They are also a newer brand without the history and legacy of others. Some critics say it's more of a hype brand than anything else (whatever than means). But to each their own! 2

Meaning, they are not like a Richard Mille or a Patek Grand Chime where you see it coming a mile away. In passing, on a wrist, it basically looks like any other dress watch. It is only when you take a closer look that see the "flashiness" or, as I like to call it, "artistry". But yes, to each his own. 2
BrightonCorgi Posted October 14 Posted October 14 A lot of writing on the dial that isn't needed. It speaks for itself.

I also like the more steampunk looking designs like the tourb you posted or the dual times. 1
Popular Post Skm672 Posted November 15 Popular Post Posted November 15 Wearing this Patek Philippe 5990 in steel with a Tiffany & Co stamp. The new one has a blue dial but I love this grey brown dial as it has a connection to Cigars. My dream watch would be the FP Journe Havana. 7

Very cool looking watch.
Popular Post pohlmad Posted November 15 Popular Post Posted November 15 I have been following ‘Let’s talk about watches…’ for years and today I finally get to participate. I’ve only worn/owned an Apple Watch, never anything else. Recently, I hit my 20 year anniversary at work and decided it was time to step my game up. Couldn’t be more happy! Thanks for all the education and insight in this group! 10

It is a Travel Time watch, so it tells time in 2 places simultaneously. As to the home and local indicators, if it is 6AM-6PM the indicator is white. If it is 6PM-6AM it is dark. They can be the same or opposite each other depending on what time it is at home vs what time it is in wherever you travelled to. 1

There is a pusher on the left that sets the local time. When you click on the pusher, there is a second hand which moves either forward or backward. So the indicator mentioned above changes depending on time of day, so let’s say your home country. It’s night time and where you are at daytime then the local will be white and the home will be blue. It is a very interesting complication, but it doesn’t work when you are in places where the time zone is half hour increment. 1

Then, he brought out several FPJs - night and day difference. FPJ on another level - IMHO. Still kicking myself I didn’t pick up an FPJ before the price inflation. 1
Popular Post 03Hemi Posted November 16 Popular Post Posted November 16 I love how the Omega Pro flies under the radar as the best chronograph ever to exist and only watch guys notice this beautiful little gem. Retired, but I work at a gun shop part time for the "at cost" discount, but it amazes me watch guys pick up on it with just a glance and never fail to comment. 6
