I'm pretty new to the whole watch collecting thing. I bought a Stainless/Platinum Yachtmaster 23 years ago, and have worn it every day since I bought it, until I recently decided it was time for something new. I only was considering sports watches, as I never really got into dress watches. But my journey led me to the dress watch I recently bought, which I absolutely love.

Now I am finding myself much more into dress watches than sports watches. I have been doing a lot of reading, and watching YouTube videos. They really are engineering marvels mixed with fine art. I love the simple time only watches, and the perpetual calendars, all the way up to the grand complications watches.

Any F.P. Journe fans out there? They may be my favorite brand at this moment.

I think this is my grail...

FP Journe are cool. A bit flashy for my taste, but I do like some of their less complicated watches. I know that there is a lot of drama surrounding the brand and the founder. Unclear how much of that drama is warranted. They are also a newer brand without the history and legacy of others. Some critics say it's more of a hype brand than anything else (whatever than means). But to each their own!

I feel like they are low key flashy. Meaning, they are not like a Richard Mille or a Patek Grand Chime where you see it coming a mile away.

In passing, on a wrist, it basically looks like any other dress watch. It is only when you take a closer look that see the "flashiness" or, as I like to call it, "artistry".

But yes, to each his own.

A lot of writing on the dial that isn't needed. It speaks for itself.

If it is writing that you don't understand, does it really count as writing, or is it just design?

🤣

I am a FP Journe fan. I like the aesthetic of the bleu chronometre. Simple time-only 3 hander, attractive Arabic numerals, and a cool handset. I also like the more steampunk looking designs like the tourb you posted or the dual times.
