Because I didn't even try for a nautilus because everyone says that they don't let anyone buy a Nautilus as their first Patek. 1

my happy place Posted August 24 Posted August 24 3 hours ago, tbelle7 said: Skip the line and the obnoxious AD system. Go grey. Sadly, this is the right way to do it. AD's will have you spend more money to establish "purchase history" than what you'd spend on the grey market. You just have to know it's the watch you really want and NOT look at grey market pricing afterwards. 1
chasy Posted August 24 Posted August 24 I absolutely love the Nautilus 5712. Only way to get one now is grey market. Fortunately I have more important things that require that amount of dough (e.g. young kids), so it will remain a pipe dream for many more years… 3

The salesperson was actually encouraging about the watch, but everyone else I have spoken to has been pretty discouraging. 2

You have to go through the stuff they can’t sell and then the one you want will appear. It’s the system. S**tty but true. You should still have your wishlist to include a Nautilus. Unfortunately the timeframe is anyone’s guess - The AD knows but won’t ever tell you. 6119-R is beautiful. Go for it, build a nice relationship with the AD. If you’re dead set on Nautilus and want it now, grey is the only way. IMHO Cubitus is more polarising and I know of a few people who don’t have Nautilus or a long relationship with PP that have already been offered Cubitus - it’s not as “in demand” as they make it seem. I would not pay over RRP for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
SCgarman Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I'm eventually going to sell my yellow gold Submariner and replace it with something more modest like a Tudor Black Bay 68 blue dial. My tastes have changed since I bought it 8 years ago. It no longer has the same appeal it once had. Never thought I would say that. 2

SigmundChurchill Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Which are the most and least reputable gray market dealers? I have been reading about people on Chrono 24 having their watches serviced, only to find out that they bought a fake, or some of the internal parts are not from the manufacturer. 1

I have used David & Sons (Ethan, he's got a high profile social media presence), Pride and Pinion (before these non-sensical tariffs began), and Wrist Aficionado (they have multiple boutiques). Never had a question or any issues. They register manufacturer warranties in your name etc.. 1

Stick with a US based dealer on Chrono24. You have a grace period when getting the watch before the transaction is complete. Perhaps you can work something out with them around your concerns? Meet them in person and have watch examined in their locale? Buy from a verified seller that sells a lot of similar watches? 2 1

Popular Post Pmo13 Posted September 14 Popular Post Posted September 14 Finally landed my holy grail. As a kid who grew up in the 90s, and whose first Bond movie was Goldeneye, there is no cooler watch on the planet than the Omega Seamaster 2541.80. This particular watch is model year ‘98, so as much as I’d like to go full Brosnan, I’m much happier with the SuperLuminova as opposed to the old Tritium. Simply perfection. 10

Looks great with a blue rubber strap too. What does the crown on the left side do? 1

It’s a helium escape valve for decompression after you’ve been on a deep dive. Don’t imagine it’s something I’ll need in the future lol, but it’s one of those mainstays of the design! 1

I thought the valve was always working and didn't need to be enabled.

Popular Post Rhod Posted September 17 Popular Post Posted September 17 Finally picked up a grail I have been wanting for a long time. Birthyear (1968) matte dial 5513. It's not a perfect collector's specimen. Been polished at some point, I suspect hands and possibly pip have been replaced. Bracelet isn't correct. But I'm buying it to wear it and for that it's awesome. 11
