Tip-offs: 

1. Prices are way too low.

2. Too good a selection. They have a lot of ELs and other hard-to-find sticks, such as HDM double coronas and Partagas Lusitanias, They even have in stock cigars that are no longer in production (Partagas 8-9-8 Varnished, Bolivar Coronas Gigantes). And Look at the photo of the Sancho Panza Belicosos. They're parejos (straight).

4. They don't sell anything that's not worth the counterfeiter's time and effort, such as 3- and 5-packs, and lesser-known brands such as Cuaba, Diplomaticos, Fonseca, Por Larranaga, Rafael Gonzalez and San Cristobal de la Habana.

I can count on one hand with three fingers cut off the number of times in life that I've experienced something that seemed too good to be true and was actually genuine and a great deal.

I used to get emails from time to time from Solo and some of the other websites in their network (the same mob run about about 10 near identical sites with different names - mostly slight variations on legitimate store names).

Basically, they wanted a link exchange; I would write a page on CCW about some topic like "how to light a cigar" and included a link citing one of their blog pages as the source. They would remunerate me for this. The main reason they would want this is because Google sees a site like CCW that a lot of other sites link to and says "a lot of people cite this website - it must be a credible reference on Cuban cigars." If a credible site like CCW then links to another website then the credibility of that website is also boosted, and they gain in the Google rankings and appear higher in searches as a result.

At one point I engaged with them and after a bit of back and forth I made them an offer. I suggested that if they would be open with me about their supply chain, where the tobacco comes from, where the cigars are rolled, where the bands and boxes are made etc, volumes, how the whole things works, maybe let me interview some people or visit some factories or something, then I would write a page on CCW about the black market and go in depth on that side of the business, and would link to their sties on the page.

It is actually a pretty good deal for them in my opinion, because they would still get their Google ranking. Yes, anyone who came to CCW and read that article would know they were fake sellers, but most CCW users probably already know that as they are the most famous fake website out there. They would, however, still be given the credibility of having a site like CCW link to them, which would boost their appearances in searches for things like "Cuban cigars" so they would probably get some more newbies arrive from Google as a result.

In any event, they didn't go for it.
