Fireball Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I’ll start by saying the only HU I have had are HUHCs, which I enjoy regularly. I have a single novella that I am going to have today. I have had some things go well recently so I’m looking to get something to celebrate. With prices what they are, I would like to hear people’s experiences with the brand vitolas before I get a box of something. So here it is- How would you compare the flavors of HU2 and HUPC, RR, or Connies to the HUHC and Novella? Thanks
Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 FWIW, the HU2 is generally loved across the board. I don't know anyone who has regretting buying a box. 8
Popular Post gormag38 Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 Just came here to say your answer is HU2. I don't know how the current 24/25 boxes are. But 21-22 have been bangers. I also really enjoy the Connie B and As. The Bs come into their own after some time down but are 'finer' more finesse type of smoke (if that makes sense). 5

A bit higher in price where I am, but certainly a step up and makes a good 'celebration' smoke. Otherwise, I've had some good luck with Mag 50s. 2
Popular Post Duder Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 Really can’t go wrong with H. Upmann. The whole range is filled with terrific smokes. You listed HUPC - they were cut ten years ago. If you can find some - BUY THEM! For what it’s worth (which isn’t much!) my favorites are - Sir Winston #2 Mag 46 Connie 1 Half Corona Coronas Major (underrated!) Happy hunting! 8
Popular Post El Presidente Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 There is no bad H. Upmann From Coronas Major to Sir Winston. Each has a personality and a place. 10 2
Popular Post joeypots Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 RR and Connoisseur #1 are old friends and are hard to beat. Mag 46 might be my favorite but my favorite is usually what I'm smoking if it is good. There is excellent value, if there can be value these days in Cuban cigars, in the Conni 1. 7
Mike Mecklenburg Posted April 2 Posted April 2 The Half Corona is a good place to start and it's a nice smoke. I like the Sir Winston, No. 2, Connie 1, Connie 2 and Mag 46 along with the HC. 4
Popular Post puromaniac Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 Also a shout out for the Majestic. Excellent, especially at the price point. 5
Popular Post JohnS Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 Put it this way...we get threads every now and then, on our forum, asking our community to list the one or two marcas they don't connect with or dare I say, don't like. No one responds, "H.Upmann." 8
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted April 2 Popular Post Posted April 2 Look. If you're into cigars you owe it to yourself to hunt down Sir Winston. It's an iconic cigar. Also I am a firm believer of giving all marcas a try. There is value and quality smoking experience to be found all over. Everyone has their preferences. I have smoked Magnum 50, 46, Connie A and No.1, and all have at times delivered outstanding smokes. Dive in! The thing I like most about Upmann is there is great variety there. 8 2

zeedubbya Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I never thought I’d say this, as I came to know Upmann later than I should have, but if I was pressed to say you can smoke one marca forever, it might just be H. Upmann. Most people would answer Cohiba, but if I really stopped and thought about the amount of great experiences I’ve had, H Upmann would probably take the spot above Cohiba and even my love (for 20 plus years) for Partagas. If I were in your situation, I would get either a box of Mag 46 and HUHC or a box of Connie A. All three of these will give you a fantastic smoking experience now, and they will age wonderfully as well. The clean toasted tobacco base hits the right spot time and time again with different evolutions and complexity depending on the specific cigar - they just deliver what I want nearly every single time. Falls down so very rarely. 4

I've only had a couple, and they were aged approx 5-10 years, but good lord they were good. Perhaps because my expectations going in were quite low. I've been meaning to procure a box since then honestly...that was two years ago now though! 2 1

One of the truly great values these days and in Tubos to boot! 2

To me it’s a “savoury” type flavour profile. Shortbread, toast, cedar. Not much of the rich sweet chocolate you may find in say a Monte. I think if you like HUHC you’ll find similar enjoyment in any of the other vitolas of the marca. The real question is price point/value. HUN2 and Sir Winston are crazy popular and sought after and can demand a higher price. In reality I find a Sir Winston is better than a HUHC but from a cost perspective, I don’t think it’s worth the extra “dollars per cigar” value. 3

Royal Robusto is a gorgeous cigar. When you can't make your mind up and you are a little clouded with indecision as to what to smoke, Upmann No 1 saves the day. 7
