There must be a market for this out there for this product to exist. I doubt that this sort of pricing for a Non-Cuban cigar like this would 'catch on' amongst our community members.

Agreed. There must be...although I've yet to meet anyone who's a part of it!

For me personally, I couldn't be less interested in a $150 stick. Regardless of origins!

@Elpresidente this certainly inspires me to ask if you have any 3 packs of Espys or CPE lying around. I’m making 1st dibs!!!

Don’t underestimate the amount of people out there who will buy cigars purely to flex. And don’t underestimate the amount of people who are confused by Non-Cuban “Cuban” cigar brands. Those at the intersection of these 2 groups will buy this cigar.

If you want to ball and Habanos are not on the store shelf; what's your play?

That Montecristo looks the part.

What’s most sad is I look at this and think, “damn Cubans are looking more and more like NCs”. Didn’t occur to me that this was in fact the Non-Cuban variety. 😂

Altadis U.S.A. Announces Montecristo Doble Diamante Red, a $150 Cigar

March 30, 2026 - Patrick Lagreid

In 2024, Altadis U.S.A. raised eyebrows with the announcement of the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Doble Diamante, a cigar priced at $150. This year, the company is running it back with the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Doble Diamante Red, due to arrive on store shelves later this month and carrying an MSRP of $150.

The cigar is a 6 1/2 x 54 toro extra, with an all-Nicaraguan, medium-to-full bodied blend that uses tobacco from AJ Fernandez’s Finca La Lilia and San Lotano farms in Estelí, with most of the tobacco coming from the farms’ first and second harvests. That means it has been resting for several years, and that time is what drives the cigar’s price, the company says. The cigars are being produced at the main AJ Fernandez factory in Estelí.

I really cannot see what the big deal is. It is okay to make mistakes. The trick is not to make to make a habit of it. Clearly they have forgotten to place a decimal point in between the one and the 5.

I read somewhere it has another type of leaf, Tercio Tiempo. Never heard of it? Well, we all will in no time 😂🤣🤣

There does not seem to be anything truly unique about this cigar? The contents and preparation are interesting but are they really rare and special? Is aging of a NC really that special anymore? This seems like an experiment in where the limits of the NC market are right now. I guess if it sells you might see more manufactures follow suit. I thought the Kelner 80th anniversary cigar was a reach at $75 US. Again, nothing truly unique about it. At least Opus X has the allure of the single origin and limited numbers but you can get those pretty regularly now and generally they run from $30 and up with only the really rare ones topping out above $50 each. As others have noted, these will sell to folks who want to look impressive to their cigar buddies. Maybe it's also a bit of a flex by Altadis to its fellow manufacturers?

I won't be parking my $$ with these and they won't be part of my cigar acquisition program going forward.

It definitely has Triple Band Pricing. That's a band for every 50 bucks.

No, that’s why we’re all making fun of it. 😎
