NYGuido Posted Monday at 10:45 PM Posted Monday at 10:45 PM I’m Italian American, so this is easy. Though I also took no restrictions to mean I have an unlimited maintenance budget and can have a second one for all the time the first one spends in the shop 😂 If I only could have 1 car and had to pay my own repairs? Porsche. 3
Popular Post JohnS Posted Monday at 11:11 PM Popular Post Posted Monday at 11:11 PM What, I can't have one of each? Okay, Porsche (just) because of the German automotive engineering behind the car. 5
Popular Post Lucas Buck Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Popular Post Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Ferrari no contest. Been obsessed with them since my teen years. 5
zacca Posted Tuesday at 12:26 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:26 AM Ferrari no contest. Not that I dislike Porsche at all. I’m a huge fan and love a lot of their cars. Ferrari is just a tier above in my book and has the greatest car of all time. 4
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted Tuesday at 12:38 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 12:38 AM My father loved his 911s. So I’ll pick Porsche. 4 1

I loved Magnum PI's 308 GTS and I was probably 10-12 when my dad bought me a poster of the Testarossa and it was game over. I prefer the styling and the engine notes from Ferrari. Were it my own nickle, I'd likely go with Porche for it's AWD offerings as Ferrari's stable is limited. Interesting question. Cheers! 4 1
griller Posted Tuesday at 02:20 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:20 AM Respect to Porsche but the styling Ferrari puts into their vehicles is both functional and artistic. I'll never own one but love seeing them on the road. 4
Ford2112 Posted Tuesday at 03:00 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:00 AM I think a fella could pull more with a Ferrari. I wanna be James Bond with the Aston Martin. Never been a fan or Porsche. 4
TheFez Posted Tuesday at 03:42 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:42 AM Currently on my 6th porsche. Dream car (of the modern era) is Porsche 918 Spyder, and vintage 911's just make me drool (especially the G Series). Don't get me started on Singers (not technically Porsche, but you know). Can't wait for the day I have both a 918 and a 964 or older. Or one of each era. I really need a bigger garage🤣 Hairiest experience I ever had was driving a CGT at age 17, that car was truly scary. Not to mentioned I stalled multiple times even though I was fully proficient (or so I thought) at driving a manual, haha. Used to like Ferrari more and have driven a number of them from 80s models to the Enzo and so on but they don't really do it for me as much as they used to. Only one maybe on my radar is the 458, being the last naturally aspirated mid engine Ferrari V8. There is something just so special about naturally aspirated power delivery and sound, which is why I'll probably never get rid of my Huracan Perf V10. The Ferrari V12s sure sound great though😅 For now I'm happy with my Lamborghini and Porsche. Hoping my GT3 Touring allocation comes soon. Side note, I urge anyone that doesn't "get" Porsche to go drive a 911. Was a life changing experience for me many years back that really shaped the trajectory of where I headed in life. The looks took time to grow on me and they may not be as objectively sexy as Ferraris, but once you drive one there really is no substitute. 3

Wish I still had that car but I sold it for much more than I paid for it. 3
Ruggerpgh99 Posted Tuesday at 01:51 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:51 PM This is not even close. Some Ferraris are beautiful, some not so much. Some perform great for their price point, some, not so much. I will take the german engineering, and performance of a Porsche 100 times out of a 100, and twice on Sunday. My dream car is a Porsche 911 Dakar. 3
cnov Posted Tuesday at 02:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:09 PM Easy decision. Porsche. I always wanted a 458 for that naturally aspirated V8 sound but I'd be kidding myself if I thought I could afford to run an Italian. I really like the 991.1 GTS, no turbos, an awesome flat 6 scream and with back seats. a 991.2 GT3 would be a winner, touring if they aren't so damn expensive. Porsche seems a lot less showy that a Ferrari, that has an allure for me. 3
Puros Y Vino Posted Tuesday at 03:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:01 PM My background is Italian. This is not easy. I grew up in the 80's and definitely had F40 and Porsche 959 posters and magazines. I love the raw, ferocity of the F40 but given that it was in the same price range as the 959 at the time, it seemed too stripped down whereas the 959 was fast and comfortable. Actual door handles vs a wire you pull. Not that I was a prospective customer. But being somewhat logical, the bang for the buck was in the 959. Both were among the first to hit the 200mph barrier. One did so in comfort the other was a chubby F1 car in comparison. Visually, to my eye they have the same silhouette. Such as the sloped nose and big whale tail spoiler. V6 vs V8. but both air cooled turbo(IIRC). No other Porsche IMO has looked as visually stunning as the 959. It has the power and speed of a wide receiver and the aesthetics and grace of a synchronized swimmer. The F40 still remains a beauty as well. Though they're have been some really nice Ferrari designs since. But TBH. My favorite Ferrari is the 288GTO which is pretty much the precursor to the F40. Not having owned either of these two, I have read and heard that Ferrari reliability and maintenance costs are far worse and more frequent. So the 959 for me. Enzo, mi dispiace. 1
Li Bai Posted Tuesday at 04:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:52 PM Ferrari, no contest. I've seen Porsches everyday since I was a little boy, Ferraris, not so much. But that doesn't mean I don't love Porsches 👍 3
Gubbins Posted Tuesday at 05:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:52 PM I love Porsches, amazing German engineering, some of the sleekest lines there is with the 911’s. But there’s no chance I’m taking one over a Ferrari. I think Ferraris are a bit like Rolexes in this regard. You grow up wanting one, then you think they’re over hyped, then you learn to appreciate what they are. I don’t think they’re quite as flashy as you might expect either. They do some pretty classy dialled back models, and you can always get it in black instead of red 2

I probably could have gotten much more now than I paid for it then if I held it, they were very low production, and all of a sudden now are super desirable. First year of tiptronic transmission which sucked, and the Targa roof was always breaking, lol. 5 hours ago, Puros Y Vino said: So the 959 for me. Enzo, mi dispiace. Oooof, forgot about the 959. You don't see then around too much at all anymore, everyone is stashing them away. Another Porsche that looks like a sexy supercar, I want one of those too in my imaginary gigantic garage! 🤣 2
JDoughty Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM No contest, Porsche makes an all terrain SUV that I could actually use and abuse in the outdoors. The Ferrari version is not optimal for such uses. Nothing wrong with attractive collector's vehicles that you have to be careful with, if you appreciate them for what they are and don't mind maintaining them carefully. For me if I can't get mud and blood on it, I don't want to be fussed driving it. 2
Bill Hayes Posted yesterday at 07:12 AM Posted yesterday at 07:12 AM It was a 'don't make me choose' question. I chose the F430 Spider. Just looked great to me with engine under glass. Sure, the Scuderia is lighter and faster but I'm no race driver. Also loved the Porsche 911 in midnight blue. But something about having the engine in the back just never seemed right to me. Oh wait a second, the F430 has a mid/rear engine. Ha ha! And my cousin raced cars. He had a white 911 and took me for a spin as a kid. I absolutely crapped myself when he sped towards a crossroads turn and hardly slowed down. I grabbed the dash board in fear and the next second we were around the corner. No skidding. No tail out stuff. I couldn't believe it. He said, "Now that's what you call cornering on rails". Ha ha! Never forget it. 1

Deeg Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago That’s a tough one, but I think the fact that Porsche makes cars you can actually use and not just show off in tips the balance in their favor for me. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Porsche is a great marque, but it ain't no Ferrari. Sadly, a nice 911 gets parked with the other cars. A lower priced Ferrari gets parked out front. 1
