Mano a Mano Poll: Piramide Face Off.

From the Hip: What would be your average score experience with the following Piramides. 

We all score differently so if you are a 1-5 star type of guy then the poll will still work. 

From the hip is just that. Your gut feel based on what you have smoked over the years. 

Which will come out on top?  I predict an upset but let's see

I’ve had wonderful luck with all but the Diplo. Had a few meh Montes but the vast majority have been good to great.

For me, the best scoring piramides over the years has been the H.Upmann No.2. Then again, I've tended to have them aged and that does 'wonders' to them. As for the other ones, they've all been around the same mark in comparison to each other, but just below the H.Upmann No.2.

The VR's are good enough to eat. The Dip 2's are doing the marca proud as the sole regular production example. P2's. Love em. HU2's have been growing on me.  M2 is just "good" for me.

I love the Upmann, it's my favorite but all the ones I've had come from the same wonderful box. Second is the Monte 2, I like them a lot too and I find them a tad stronger in general. I don't get the P2, I've tried again and again but we don't seem to get along for some reason.

The VR I've only had one I wasn't impressed with but the draw was bad and the Dip 2s I was able to put my hands on are still resting so I couldn't say much about those.

P2 has never really grabbed me. Only had 1 Upmann. Love the Unicos but if I am to pick. Diplo 2. I have never had one disappoint and thats a good sample size . They can be complex and to me have a unique DNA.

From the hip, HU2 easily won for myself. Most of my examples have been either aged and/or from hot 'runs' but even when smoking outside of those parameters they have still been mouth watering good. The P2 hasn't scored as well as I thought; but maybe I just 'get' that cigar. It's consistent and smokes well with only a few years down. Probably the lowest scorer for me is the M2; I've had a couple magical one but mostly they're inconsistent as hell.

I have had some outstanding examples of all of them, but as far as in the past 10 years I have found the Monte 2 has had lots of blend a construction issues! 

The Partagas 2 has been rich and bold, and if you ever get a chance to sample some of the 05's they will blow you mind!

The Upmann 2 again aged outstanding, fresh ok!

I just got done smoking a 19' VR Unico outstanding but fresh ok!

Diplo 2 Just seem to take a good amount of tame to hit there stride!

I'm in the same sort of camp as most others. However, VR is my CC asparagus, I will never get it. For that reason, Unicos can't qualify to be on the list for me. My list uses a sophisticated propietary computation related to overall value and cigar enjoyability.

HU2 > Diplo 2 > Monte 2 > P2

Monte and Diplo can flip flop from time to time depending on box and aging but I'm enjoying the Dip 2s a little more overall.

Upmann 2 is probably my favorite, but I still have yet to have a bad Monte 2. I'd rate it just under the Upmann. I like the other three and wouldn't turn one away. On any given day the VR and Dip 2 can surprise me to the upside - not so much the P2. This is such a strong category if a P2 can come in last place. I too would love to see a blind tasting of this vitola.

For Piramides I only had a 9-year old H. Upmann No. 2 so far, but it delivered such a tasty and complex flavours. Its flavours are similar to Connie A and HUHC, but smoother and more refined due to years of ageing. I absolutely enjoyed this Piramide for sure!

Diplomatico is quite behind the others. Not same league. Monte 2s are a bit box particular. The other 3 are great and consistent over the last decade or so.

Upmann for the single greatest of the bunch. Never had a crappy box in 25+ years.

Still a great cigar though, especially compared to the wider spectrum piramides beyond Habanos.

I had my last Monte 2 from a 10 box just last week, it was okay but nothing to write home about. I have a full box of orange sticker M2's that I'm not hugely fussed about cracking into but I'll keep them long term and see what happens. 

Much better luck with the P2 here.
