This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor)   4-6 (Average to good)   7-10  (very good to excellent)  Use the Poll.

H. Upmann Magnum 50 is a cigar that is right in my wheelhouse. For me it is Sir Winston meets Saint Luis Rey Double Corona in profile. I love the stonefruit note, the bakery, the cofffee.

Today: H. Upmann Magnum 50 .   Do you enjoy them? Fresh or aged? If aged....how long before they generally hit their stride.

Let's kick off the discussion

Huge fan, only had them young but a treat all the same. Have a box to smoke and a box to put away for long term aging (have been told they’ll go 20+ years easy and a real tasty smoke with age).

My experience is limited on the Mag 50 so I didn't vote. But I am a little surprised to see the results. The couple I've had were about 5-7 years old tubos and were just sort of 'meh'. A very poor man's Sir Winston I can kinda see, but certainly not good enough to keep me going back. Just wasn't alot going on for me and certainly not thinking about purchasing them since the price increased.

I want to say I have a single rolling around with 10+years on it. One of these days I'll have to go back and revisit and see if I judged them too quickly.

I’ve only had the OR which I bought a ton of as they were so good and came in 50 cabs. Didn’t vote as I have no perspective on these. After the Partagas P2 these were my favorite new release in the 2000’s. Much as I love them, the Mag 46 is still the best of the magnums for my taste.

Would love to hear your thoughts on that one.

Honestly, it has generally always been an exceptional cigar for me.

I must have the holy grail box. Given a choice between one of these and a Siglo VI it would be a tough choice. Different tastes between the cigars granted, but the wow factor is on par with each of them.

Love the Mag50 - one of my favorites.

On the milder side, reasonably consistent construction, dependable flavors. Had plugged ones in the past, but everything from 2017 onward has been solidly consistent for me.

They’re a little plain but tasty when newer. Buttered toast prominent. But the last box I had transformed at the 5 year mark to something special. Funky, musty barnyard and brioche. I’ve got a couple SLBs I'm going to sit on for at least 3 years.

Love everything about them. Format, blend, personality.

+1, maybe my favorite production Upmann in the current lineup.
