I posted the meme below in Tuesday Titter today, and I was mirthfully thinking, yeah, damn, some of those window winders used to tighten up pretty good! Power windows are indeed a great thing ;).

I've also recently had the flu and was, once again, in ever-loving praise for the genius who came up with Aloe-Vera tissues:clap:. Remember your shitty sore-arse nose after a week-long cold before them? 🤧

So what else? There must be loads we take for granted every day 🤔.

Post em' up

In the last 6 years I've dealt with IBS and Lyme's Disease...so modern testing and treatments have made my life incredibly better. Couldn't possibly imagine how awful this would have been to deal with

Banking. I was always shit at balancing my check book. Never bothered really and never knew what I had in my account. Now I just log in and see my balance and transactions.

Not a problem for me but over the counter drugs like loratadine (Claritin), cetirizine (Zyrtec), and fexofenadine (Allegra) that work for 24 hours without drowsiness. This was a game changer and a massive leap forward from Benadryl.

Consumer access to affordable GPS units and turn by turn direction. My first GPS unit was a handheld Garmin aviation unit that cost thousands of dollars in the 1990s. Then came portable GPS units you could put in your var for a few hundred dollars. Now this technology is in every phone & practically every car.

Noise cancelling headphones. Again, first unit i had was a Bose Aviation headset in the 90s. This retailed for $950. Gotta be close to $3000 in today's dollars. It was heavy required batteries and ran out of them after a few hours but the technology was incredible. Today, this technology is available on even some of the most inexpensive wireless earbuds, headphones and safety equipment.

I hope you are much better now. Wishing you a full recovery.

I'm picking the low hanging fruit and going with the ability to order cigars online. I used to drive to Canada in the 90's to load up on cigars and Molson XXX while in college 🤣

And heated steering wheels

These are soooo clutch. I never got the hype until I owned a car with a heated steering wheel. In the Michigan winters when I'm off to work before the sun is up and the wind/snow is howling there is a nice comfort grabbing a warm steering wheel.

I'm thinking seemingly little things:

Wheels on suitcases

EZ Pass

Heated Car seats.

Remote auto start and, as mentioned, heated steering wheels.

And my retractable extension cord.

In arm / on arm glucose monitors have changed so much for two people very close to me that have diabetes. On top of an easier day to day life, it’s allowed them both to better understand their diet and make informed decisions.

Titanium dental implants. I've yet to have one but at least it's there ready! Good thing nature made bone fuse with titanium.

Ice dispensers in fridges. Very handy on those hot summers days.

Solar powered wireless ip cameras with sensors and speaker. Handy for scaring pesky foxes away and remotely keeping an eye on things.

IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) and Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1) freeing the world from wires.

LLM Transformer. Finally bringing Star Trek computers to the home.
