Easy living for me this 4th of July. I've worked all summer every summer since 1990. Couple of gatherings, bbq, family, friends, and I'll sneak a cigar or two in.

Ha! Reposting from the Daily Smokes thread, I guess the first order of business was smoking!

QdO54 with cold brew coffee. Enjoyed this before the kids woke up. Started to clean off the grill. Came back inside to raucous fun with the kiddos. We’ll see what’s up next: nap or grill. Something tells me the former!

Weekend lineup, this year's and last year's EPC Pledge of Allegiance. Last night I had the 2024 Toro. This morning I started with a LOA MAY 15 RG Perlas, SOU FEB 22 QdO 50 and a RAT AUG 21 PLPC.

A happy 4th to all. Back at the farm this weekend. My son just met his new quad - he's gone from a 50 to 90 to 110 cc in the last year. Also, a new fall (yeah chainsaw) and the view from the top of the valley.

Obligatory plate o’ ribs at my niece’s Fourth of July bash/b'day. First 4th we’ve spent in LA since ‘22. We’re usually traveling. Watching fireworks from our backyard; what a night. My little guy hanging way past his bedtime. Haven’t got on the grill yet; there’s always Saturday and Sunday, though!

Food and fireworks!  Celebrating Midwest style…BBQ chicken legs, baked beans, mac n cheese, deviled eggs, followed up with tons of fireworks and then a great smoke on the back patio!  Tabernacle Double Corona.

Had an enjoyable 4th with a day of cigars, smoking meats, libations galore (to include an excellent Sangria recipe, cold lagers, and a Mojito) and a 20-minute municipal fireworks show that we could view from our backyard. It was also the first 4th since my Dad's passing this past February so my wife & I invited my Mom to come over for the festivities (she's 81 but physically/mentally at least 10 yrs younger). Cigars over the course of the day:

--BHK 52 farm roll: came in rolled up Granma newspaper with the wrapper pigtail extending over the foot. Been in my 'dor about 6 months & didn't know what to expect. FANTASTIC cigar! Surprised the heck out of me, perfect construction, draw, and zero ammonia/youth. Several flavor transitions, smoked down to the nub. 

--Puro Desnudo Nifas N7: grabbed a 5-count sampler earlier this year & this is the first from that purchase that I've smoked. Very nice, picked up nuts/almonds right out of the gate. Couple of transitions over the course of the smoking experience that my palate couldn't distinguish specifically, but a nice smoke nonetheless. Glad I have 4 more...

--Upmann #2 from 2010: excellent draw, construction & burn but I think I let this one age past it's prime. The flavors were much milder & subtle that the last one I remember smoking (pre-COVID) and the mouthfeel was what I'd call "thinner" too. Still a 90 scoring cigar in my book, but it never hit sublime levels.

The cook consisted of smoking two gorgeous Picanha cuts of beef and a package of pre-make Trader Joe's Angus Beef Meatballs. Used pecan wood & pegged the smoker's temp to 275 degrees F until the Picanhas hit 160 internal, then wrapped in unbleached parchment paper & returned to the smoker until they hit 200 degrees. Cussing myself now for not taking pics but the result was probably the best food I've ever pulled off the smoker. Texture nearly identical to beef brisket that you could cut with a fork with the smoked flavors that came out but didn't overwhelm. The meatballs were unbelievable, too. Day ended with me falling asleep on the couch waiting on my 16 yr old daughter to get home from a swimming party LOL...

We delivered a half wild boar 🐗 to a friend. Filled the trunk with Auxerrois, Scheurebe, Pinot Grigio for the summer. Self picked Apricots, weekend shopping and now we are laying in the garden and enjoying ourselves. 

Harvesting some redcurrants and baked a pistachio clafoutis with a strong coffee. Life is good.Enjoy the 4th of July weekend.

Not a holiday here but fun weekend nonetheless.

Beach Saturday morning when the sun was out. Then took our boy to watch Cork whoop Dublin in the hurling (amateur sport played in Ireland only) that afternoon. Snuck a pint in with some pals en route to the game and even squeezed in a ‘17 PPP along the way.

Spent this morning at the zoo - wasn’t sure what to expect but the kids loved it. Had some pizza for dinner, snuck in a walk with the dog and a CORO (from the 24 Xmas sampler). Now enjoying a pint and watching the second of the hurling semi-finals.  

Great weekend all round (save for Dublin getting humped). Happy 4th to all US members.

I’m in the States for a bit of a tour for a few weeks. I’ve spent the weekend wandering the Rocky Mountain National Park and then enjoying some cigars by the stream. It’s been nice to relax after a busy few days and lots of driving!

Was on Cape Cod (Falmouth) all weekend. Only cigar was a Sancho Panza Belicoso. I have a two finger cigar holder that I keep ready to go. Just happened to be one of the cigars in there. Punch Punch the other. Brought down two nice CA cabs figured needed to keep it American. Also brought down an '85 Fonseca that we just finished tonight.

Fireworks were great. Could see from the house. Epic bike riding and had a great leisurely lunch on Main St. Our corgi is always hit walking around.
