Today lets look at another cigar most of us here are familiar with.

The Partagas Serid D Number 4 had a stellar showing in it's "Beneath the Band"  Can the Upmann Number 2 knock it off it's pedestal?

Today: H. Upmann Number 2

My experience is from a single box. Most in the box are tightly rolled (see boxplot) and so it took me awhile to try one that had decent airflow. Interestingly, these have zero Upmann character. It is just dark, gritty, burnt leather. This is a flavor profile that only full bodied New World smokers can appreciate.

For those who have had them, how strong would you say the flavor is?

I’d rate them squarely at medium.

A little over medium for me.

The Upmann #2’s from 2024 are in my top 5. One of those where you smoke one and then immediately place an order for another box. Hard for me to describe the flavor profile but I love the progression. To be at this level at this young of an age…Impressive.

This was an easy one for me. Probably my favorite stick the past couple of years. It was certainly easier to justify spending the coin on them when they were 300 a box. Regardless I think I've bought two boxes since the price increases. Only stick I can say that of.

When they are good they are fantastic. I don't have lots of experience with the  HU#2 but ages ago I had a box that had the heaviest body with nicotine that kicked like a horse. I like Upman more than I used to and have a box resting.

A truly magnificent cigar. Of the current offerings only the Sir Winston would supercede it. Upmann was once a favorite marca until they cut most of the classic range. The Lonsdales, Super Coronas, Monarcas & #4 were all superb. That being said the #2 is outstanding and I’m glad it’s still being rolled.
