VeguerosMAN Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 3 Superbowls, 3 Superbowl MVPs, 4 trip to Superbowls, 2 regular season MVPs, 2 5000+ yard seasons, Clutch when it matters, etc etc... Is he already a top 5 quarterback of all time at the age of 29?
BrightonCorgi Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Top 10 for sure. Not ready to say top 5 just yet. 1
VeguerosMAN Posted October 11, 2024 Author Posted October 11, 2024 Besides Brady, Montana, and Manning who's up there in top 5?
BoliDan Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 He still has plenty of time to fall off before he starts breaking top 5 career yards, tds and wins. Currently Jay Cutler beats him in every category, so its way too early to call solely based on post season performance.

Staubach for the Cowboys. Ken Stabler for the Raiders. Mahomes is top 10. On his way to top 5 with more SB wins to come. 1
Ken Gargett Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 make room for jayden daniels!! on his way. okay, perhaps it might be a few more years before he gets there. mahomes? hard not to think he is very close. brady and montana. manning. bradshaw with four superbowls has to be there? much as i hate the idea, staubach from the cowboys. i'd also have troy aikmann as a very serious contender. have to say ken stabler as top five rather stunned me. i know pre superbowl era but Sammy Baugh would have way more claim. aside from being considered to have introduced the forward pass as something more than the last resort, he had a stellar career. and i love that during his career, he also held records as a punter and as a defensive back. mvp several times, took Wash to the NFL championship several times. associated press named him the 3rd greatest player of the 20th century (that is player, not quarterback). no disrespect to stabler and a few others but i think he has a legit claim to top 5. ignoring daniels of course, I've named eight. does stabler really push four of those out for a place? 1
Fireball Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 One has to decide what metric to measure it by. Is he the best passing qb ever? No. Best rushing- no? I think with Super Bowl wins, that puts him in the top 5. 1

Let's have the conversation about Jayden Daniels after tomorrow against the Ravens. If he shows up and beats Baltimore the Skins are going to the Superbowl 1

If he shows up and beats Baltimore the Skins are going to the Superbowl that would be something but i think the ravens are very much deserved favourites. even if we did win, i do not see a superbowl in our future this year. too many holes. but wow, no one saw us doing so well. i think that the addition of luvu and wagner has been crucial. the RBs have been very good. we really need at least one more WR and a bit better pass rush and a shut down corner. we have had some luck - giants score three TDs against us and we score zero and still beat them???? but we are very much headed in the right direction. the best move of all was finally getting rid of that toxic cockroach synder and getting competent ownership and especially getting adam peters as gm. finally a gm who knows what he is doing. back to the bobby breathred days (if only). i think we will be serious contenders next season and even more the following few. just on some other points, when i said Sammy baugh took Wash to the NFL championship several times, what i meant was won the NFL championship several times. also, i think that superbowls do play a huge part in ranking QBs. not the only criteria of course, but important. if you can't get it done on the biggest stage then hard to have you amongst the elite. i know marino fans will object but if he had won one or two, then he'd be an obvious candidate. now, not so much. if brady had only won one or two, the discussion would not be goat but choker. even though it would only be a few games that might not have been his fault. no one gets into the tennis goat conversation without a bucketload of slams (sorry kyrios, but as good as you think you are, zero slams says otherwise). no one is going to be an all-time top five QB without at least one superbowl, ideally more. 1
Jack Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 It is possible to compare the players of today (in nearly any sport) to those of the past? Along with baseball cards I also had some football cards. They listed the player's off-season jobs. I remember one who worked in a car dealership. You had to have a off-season job to survive. It's not the same game.
Woody Hayes Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Since we're going to the era of Sammy Baugh might as well throw in Otto Graham. Look him up...too many significant accomplishments to type here. 1

He's about as decent and good a man as you can find. 1

Ken Gargett Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 i think we can put a very large pin in Washington in the superbowl this season. still can't work out how we stayed so close to the ravens. always felt like they were so far ahead. Daniels was fabulous again and so was mclaurin, but the defence? how can you let a QB throw 128 passes to blokes who have no one within 10 yards. honestly, you'd be embarrassed if that was training. we are not going to the draft. just going to buy bigger witches hats because that would be an improvement.
