LordAnubis Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 I stole the title of another recent thread. Can one of the mods put a poll on this thread please? I can’t do it. Ordered Italian noellas and this is how they arrived. Cardboord box literally slashed in half. Several cigars cut in half. The rest just slammed back into the jar with zero f@&$s given. Almost all damaged in some way. Great work freedom. So I put the worst ones out of their misery and created Amput-ellas. Glued them up so they shouldn’t be unravelling. How would you smoke em? 1 - bin em 2 - smoke in pieces as they are 3 - cut them up into shreds and smoke in pipe. 4 - jam the sticks in the pipe and smoke em. 1 7
LordAnubis Posted May 25, 2023 Author Posted May 25, 2023 Nothing to be sorry. Gonna be smoked. I hate the jar. But the cigar size is perfect. Well.. was 😂 1
Rhinoww Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Oh man. That’s painful to see. Like a murder scene of a friend.
havanaclub Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 None of the above. Send em back! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ATGroom Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Does anybody know what the rationale is behind US customs cutting cigars? Are they looking for concealed drugs or something? Have seen plenty of damage from other customs agencies - cardboard boxes ripped open, cigars taken out of boxes and then shoved back in less than carefully and so on - but never anything that seemed like deliberate punitive destruction. The slashes on the outer box in this case can be attributed to someone going way to deep with the box cutter when opening the parcel. Most of the banged up ones are probably just someone cramming them back into the jar with zero care. But the the cigars cut in half in clearly deliberate. When other customs agencies want to destroy cigars you simply never receive the package, you don't receive it cut up. What gives?
LordAnubis Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 Paying duty on cut up cigars is the worst! 2 3

I had been thinking of US predicaments all along and then realized *your* origins. No need for details, but isn’t there some type of recourse if this damage occurred in between shipment from retailer to you?
Cigar Surgeon Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 14 hours ago, ATGroom said: Does anybody know what the rationale is behind US customs cutting cigars? Are they looking for concealed drugs or something? Yup, looking for cocaine or fentanyl stashed inside the cigars. Every few weeks I see a similar post from a cigar manufacturer where their regular shipment of cigars from Nicaragua has been aggressively sliced for no logical reason. 1
MossybackR Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 I received a bottle of “PerfecRepair” that I ordered after reading a recent thread about damaged cigars, and the OP mentioned a less expensive alternative to the trademarked of the Cigar Glue, Sealer & Repair. This should work but it will look like Frankenstein’s monster.I don’t recall the details, but it has to be cheaper than $15.71 (incl. taxes and shipping). If you have some quality wrapper leaf, it would seem a good alternative. Definitely better than trashing it. BTW — it seems to me there is a better way of detection of pills or granular adulterants. Is this being done to all agricultural products?
westg Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Unfortunatly when you order as much as we do this will happen on occasion . I had a thumb put through the bottom of a box of panetlas extra once because they could not figure out how to open the box They will do nothing to rectify the problem. Consider yourself lucky they did not wiegh the whole package . More often than not those cigars are bloody hard to place back on the jar evenly . For a stock standard customs worker in Oz...thats a game of tiddly winks for your cigars . Horrible humans......I guess I will bring a pipe to our next catch up 🤢. Sorry to hear brother. Xucking bastards !

Just came back through US via Italy and France. All the customs guys. Surly dicks. Also, not too bright. Great combo there I bet they all have hot wives.

Where does anyone think they get these "qualified " employees from at the speed at which they were attained? Every night shift guard that couldn't get a real LEO job applied, and was accepted. Hence, your statement is fact. 😁
