I love to downhill ski. I’ve been at it since I was in 2nd grade and in the last 12 years I’ve been able to ski many of the iconic resorts in North America. I often think about moving to the big mountains in the winter.  This years mega deep snow in many areas has made for a fantastic winter playground that will last well into summer in some places. It’s not without hazards, though. I’ve been stuck face up twice with a buddy close by. It’s no joke. This video scared me. Big time. It’s hard to watch.

f-that!.......god imagine dying that slow quite hyperthermic death,  with the occasional sound of people passing through the still trees, and not being able to do a thing about it.    That guy should buy a lottery ticket

Man is that guy f’in lucky. I snowboard alone in deep gladed areas frequently so seeing that guy is definitely sobering!

Not that it makes this any less scary, but this guy fell into a tree well, something we were warned about as children during lessons.  Fresh powder, ungroomed trails, back country skiing - all can dangerous if you are only familiar with normal ski resort conditions.

The lottery ticket would be useless, he just burned a lifetime of luck in getting found.

an "E-Friend" of mine from an online Phish message board took that footage.

Small world. Strange to see this video blowing up and going viral.

Buddy system always in these conditions…even with that still a real hazard…such a great job on the rescue, incredible.
