Popular Post cgoodrich Posted February 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 19, 2023 Possibly the best live version of a song that always moves my soul… I always think of my best friend, met when we were 5 years old, 53 years together now. 5
Lamboinee Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Simple, silly fun that references Shoneys, cows, aliens, a sheriff, bars, wives, waitresses, the solar system, and clock towers.

In fairness, Levon is from Turkey Scratch, Arkansas, and aside from singing the song, he helped Robertson with the storyline.
joeypots Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Can’t think of a better story telling song. 2
Puros Y Vino Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Iron Maiden. The Rime of the ancient mariner. 2
Chucko8 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 John Mellencamp could also tell story's in his lyrics. This track was initially supposed to portrait interracial couple, where Jack was an African American and not a football star, but he was persuaded by the record company to change it 1

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Of all the Dylan songs that Garcia covered, I think that Garcia does a better Forever Young than Dylan did too, but it is a closer call for me than Tangled.

Don't get me wrong here. Dylan is the greatest songwriter who ever lived. Completely unchallenged. I'm just a sucker for Garcia's guitar licks, which aren't included when Dylan does his own songs. Though I do remember Dylan and the Grateful Dead toured together back in the late 80's. That was the best of both worlds. If I remember correctly, they even put out a CD from that tour.
