09 Pyramid (FRBRW)

I remember not being very happy when I opened this box. I have a preferred wrapper shade for every brand and this box was definitely not one I would have selected. Pale colorado with no visible oils doesn’t attract my eye, adding to the disappointment this was for me a expensive box. I put them in a cooler and tried to forget about them, which in hindsight was a mistake. What’s that ole saying, never judge a cigar by its wrapper color. It was a long time before I finally smoked one and I was blown away. If I’d done the smart thing and tried one sooner I’d probably have a couple more boxes of these. 

This one is nicely filled at 14.4g with a good draw. Cold draw is spicy with cream and toasted tobacco. Opens with spice, nougat, nuts and a caramel sweetness. It’s a little under medium body. It’s a wonderful Saturday morning cigar, candy in the mouth with a sweet tobacco finish. I’d like to start every Saturday morning like this. Body slowly creeps up to medium with a coffee and cocoa finish. In the middle I’m getting a big blast of peanuts with a spicy coffee finish. Last 1/3 cocoa and coffee with nutty sweet nougat, a finger burner.

Guessing a Montecristo No 2. I would expect a darker wrapper on those with the oils and that coffee and cocoa that you tasted in the latter 2/3 of cigar makes me think it’s a Monty No 2!  Awesome review!
