On my first visit backpacking in Aussie 1999, I did a bit of construction work.   I couldn't get over the fact that these Aussie lads that were trying to come across as super macho were wearing 'chelsea boots'.    I'm not sure if it's still the case but it seemed to be the work boot of choice for the Aussie tradies.    Here in the uk they are pretty much exclusively worn my Boho,  Kate Moss types attending Glastonbury.

Tradies usually wear elastic sided work boots because they are easy to put on and pull off, especially when you have to walk inside a client's house.

Owning a pair of RMs is almost a right of passage in Aus. Kinda like jandals in NZ...

We call them "Blundstones" here in the states, but I think thats just the most popular brand. I dont know how to put it nicely, but they arent worn by the type of young "men" most here would spend much time with. THey are very popular in places like Boulder, Denver, Austin, Seattle, Etc.

The superintendent on the first big construction site I worked at wore them because he was too fat to tie his shoes. 😅 He was about 6' 4" and ever bit of 4 bills, so no one gave him a hard time.

Ease up governor!  I get it, I'm just saying it was a funny culture shock. When I told them they were women's boots in the UK they weren't having any of it.

As Fuzz always says on the forum "no kink shaming". If you want to wear ladies boots to site it's a free world. Why not go the whole hog and do pvc knee highs, easy to clean, reflective..........although finding them with steel toes might be tough
