I went to the very first Jingle Ball in 1995.  It took place in NJ, 20 minutes from my house, and there was just the one, not in every city like it is now.  Alanis Morisette was one of the headliners and she was great on stage.  You could see the anger on her face as she sang.  I remember the others were Blues Traveler, Bush, and Dave Matthews.  There were others, but they are escaping me right now.

BTW, love Dire Straights.  Mark Knopfler is one of my favorite guitarists.  But that was a song defining my teens, not 20's 0r 30's.

Elliot, you don't have to keep pointing out that I'm older 🤣

That concert sounds great.  Blues Traveler Four is another favorite album.  I play it often during cigar time.

Amr Diab was really popular at the Clubs I use to work and party at in Boston.  They were the days.  My friend Muhammad's 21st birthday we celebrated with 21 bottles of Dom Perignon and 100+ shots.  Spraying the Champagne like we were on the F1 podium.  Decadence 3-4 nights a week.

I thought I was showing my age here with all the grunge music in my 20's, so I guess I got a little excited that I wasn't the oldest one.  In all fairness, you were the one who pointed it out last time. 🤣

My best friend from high school was their photographer, so I got to see a lot of free music, including that concert.

A good cigar related story. On the HORDE tour, down in Camden, NJ, I was backstage with my buddy for Blues Traveler, smoking a CoRo, and a guy told me how great it smelled, so I gave him one.  CoRos were probably around $250 a box back then, so no big deal.  Anyway, turned out the guy was Neil Young's manager, so he invited my date and me to stand on the stage when Neil came played his segment. One of the best moments of my life.

I went to highschool in the late 90s turned 20 in 2000. I basically stopped listening new music because 2000s didn't really mesh with me. How can you go from Nirvana to Blink182? Or Wu-Tang to Lil'Wayne. Everything was a like a boring and mile to me. I gave up, I guess.

I’m a throwback. In my 20’s I listened to these albums the most.

#1. Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin

#2. Everything else by LZ

#3. Live at Leeds, The Who

#4. Goat’s Head Soup, The Rolling Stones

#5. Everything by the Black Crowes

As for actual songs that “defined” me, “Ten Years Gone” by Zeppelin. “Winter” by the Stones, and the live version of “My Generation” from Live at Leeds, but mainly for the incredible jam that occurs about 5 minutes into the track. Epic!

I may have had some anger issues in my 30s as well.

Aside from the usual hard-driving suspects at the start of the 80’s - ACDC, Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc - this song was always a favorite of mine, a hard driving beat with whopping dollops of finesse.

never understood why they weren't a bigger deal in the US..

The Smiths

George Michael

Me too. I honestly was not really aware of any albums other than Harder...Faster, which I had on vinyl in college. They certainly had all the ingredients.

Great taste!  Huge Weller, Style Council, JAM fan. He was nice enough to sign my guitar years ago.
