Each week we're going to spotlight a movie... be it a classic, new release, hidden gem, or outright turd... and open it for discussion: i.e. post up your favourite quotes, clips, memories... or dive deeper and give us a critique on why you think it's great, overrated, or a complete train wreck... And finally score it for us...  

All contributors go into a monthly prize draw for a 3-cigar sampler!

Week #15: Spaceballs (1987)

I'm not going to preamble this with anything more than... Ludicrous Speed - GO!!

Definitely one of those movies that I watch at least some it every time it's on. 🤙

Pure gold, as are most if not all Mel Brooks IMHO. For me Rick Moranis takes the cake as Dark Helmet. 9/10

One of the movies that if I see it on I’ll watch it. It doesn’t lose too much from being censored so that’s a plus.

Mel Brooks is just plain funny. but this one didn't move the needle for me like saddles, anxiety, Frankenstein - so a 6/10 for me

An absolute classic! When this came out in cinemas, I went to see it 3 times. My parents thought I was crazy to pay to see the same movie 3 times. For a Star Wars fan, this parody is a gem.... maybe not Kyber quality, but a gem none the less.

The best spoof out there - top of the genre. 

Kids and i love it, and so does my father, so being able to cross 3 gens is fantastic in its own right. A movie within a movie, and the characters are aware of it. Easily taken for granted, but adds another layer of depth. 

My favorite part is the member of the crew being struck by the light saber.  Honorable mention for 'suck to blow'

Perfect 10 for the genre. If it's on tv and i only catch the last 10 min, then i watch it.

I can hear my dad cackling away watching this movie. 8/10. Blazing Saddles sets the bar for Mel Brooks comedies in my opinion.

Not the best Mel Brooks film. Pizza The Hut? Brilliant.

It was 8 or 9 out of 10. Back when spoof movies weren't lazy or poorly written but they actually worked in the script for laughs.

Great stupid spoof movie. Typical Mel Brooks cornball stuff.  Best line, "I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!".
