if we can take the usual derogatory remarks from rob as read (and you are no technical whizz yourself), i have moved into the new place. it has an induction cooktop - some years ago, tetsuya gave me a demo of his in his restaurant and needless to say, he could make it do magic.i cannot even get this useless heap of crap to work.

i have included a couple of photos. it is made by Euro Kera. yes, i did contact them and we have a leading contender for the chocolate teapot award for the year. we just make the components, we don't assemble them or basically have a clue.

anyone have any clue? the light is permanently on and i tap the various things. but zero. nothing. i put a pot on them as i was told. still zero.

next question, what do people think of them?

anyway, this is the useless thing.

are your pots steel (stainless)?

i've tried all the pots i can find (at the moment, most things elude me). includes a stainless steel pot. mind you, if the rest don't work, easier to get a new stove than an entire new set of pots.

You probably need to buy new cookware that is compatible with induction

The only thing I know about induction cooking is that the cookware matters. Apparently some stuff works and some doesn’t. The cooktop itself shouldn’t get hot,  just the food in the pan…if the pan works with induction. Try putting something like bacon in a fry pan on a “burner” that’s on and see if starts cooking.

Take a magnet, if it sticks to the base of the pan the stove will work. If not you'll have to:

Change your pans or change your stove top

The magnet idea above is a good idea to test cookware - we have recently put in induction and love it....

If it’s frozen like a computer you could try resetting at the breaker. But I assume you have already tried this.

do you mean turn the electricity on and off at the fuse box?

i can't even find the switch that turns the damn thing on and off.

Parents have got one and there's no end of turning the air blue when they're cooking. There's a few things that should be hidden in the manual somewhere:

-you'll need pans that are induction compatible; the magnetic thing or they will flat out not work like the thing is turned off

-if you lift the pan off the hob, eg to toss a pancake the heat goes: Shrove Tuesday can get even more cardiac-event inducing

-the locking function is counterintuitive on most I've seen, there can be press or hold to unlock, and some are actually always unlocked and your turn the lock on when you've picked the desired temp to lock that in

Yes you've got the child lock on, need to find the right switch and press. Also, probably half your cookware will work.

Edit: could be you need hold and press the two + until you hear a beep or the light is off.

Ken, you've written this and you've also mentioned the phrase "I'm Clueless" in the topic title. Do you expect Rob not to reply? 🤣

It should be pretty easy to cook a load of top ramen on that thing

ah, the manual. yes, that would help. they left me manuals for all manner of things. three to turn the air-con on and off. manuals for things i didn't even know i had. but the evil bastard left no manual for this.

pretty sure you should be able to find the detailed manual for your exact model on the internet. Good luck!

Eurokera is only the glass manufacturer. The appliance itself (made using Eurokera glass) should have a brand name...

Try to Press down the "key" for like 5-7 seconds.

For the record, I hate these things!

The few times I have cooked on them I liked it.  Certainly like the clean up.  You have to cook around what you have.  Adjust to that style of burner.

Just like a french ring burner; just another way to cook.
