Marketing exec: hey, can we market this swill like a bundled cigar? you know, like it's the greatest deal out there and people don't even mind if it won't burn. Also, can we package it so it's easily confused with mineral spirits which our target demographic is already consuming?

Well they say there is a shortage of glass bottles for liquor in the USA among dozens of other items. Could be the reason for the metal "paint thinner" style can. Definitely unorthodox.

Packaging like this esp. with alcohol can lead to some unfortunate incidents.

I found out this the hard way. Whilst brewing beer and drinking at the same time with a mate some years back, his rather inebriated girlfriend popped in to say hello and kindly offered to make us a drink. Well unfortunately the beer bottle sterilising solution, 10% phosphoric acid, came in what was basically a soda bottle. So of course the girlfriend mistook it for such.
In our very drunken states, we both took a nice big swig before realising the mistake. Luckily for us H3PO4 is not really toxic. Extraordinarily sour though 🤢

Why couldn't I have found this before "not drinking slowly enough" made me quit?  Brings a totally new definition to "hide in plain sight".

I love the fact that they need to announce that its gluten free.

They have to, otherwise hipsters will look on this product with suspicion.

It's kind of a big deal and smart to do so.  For those with actual Celiac Disease, this is good news.  Most grain based distillates are off the list for GF people.

Vodka (and all distilled alcohols) is gluten free unless there are additives or flavorings that contain gluten.

No gluten but apparently if they're from wheat, etc. They can't be labelled gluten free in the US even though they don't contain any gluten.

Gluten in alcohol is mainly problematic with beer.

Beer is definitely the biggest problem.  Wheat based distillates are probably low risk, but most Celiacs avoid it just to be safe. The thing with Celiac is that every bit of gluten ingested, gums up the villi in the intestine and exacerbates the problem.  It doesn't go away quickly. Over time some does leave the intestine, if you're committed to a GF diet.  While ingesting gluten does give some people instant reactions such as rashes, cramps, etc. The real danger is the long term damage to the villi.  A Celiac can starve to death if enough damage is done.  My wife's brother was a Celiac since birth in the 1960's. He almost starved to death.  He had a distended belly and basically wasn't getting any nutrients from the foods he was ingesting.  Their mother visited tons of doctors to little effect.  She eventually found a book with some guidance on avoiding gluten and he recovered.
