El Presidente Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 I would love to get a review from people who have smoked them. https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/cohiba-spectre-toro-to-be-one-of-general-s-priciest-cigar Positioned as one of the most premium non-Cuban Cohibas in production, the Spectre by General Cigar Co. is back for a third release in a new size. Retailers can expect it to start shipping next Tuesday, but it won’t be cheap. At more than $100 per smoke, it’s General’s most expensive Spectre to date.
B44 Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 I haven’t but look at these suckers….new trend? https://halfwheel.com/general-cigar-co-creates-cohiba-c8-for-u-s-duty-free-market/401990/
El Presidente Posted November 22, 2021 Author Posted November 22, 2021 The marketing looks flash. Just wondering what a $100 NC Faux Cohiba tastes like? Genuinely intrigued.
gustavehenne Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Non-Cuban Cohiba's aren't available in the UK (nor to ship to the UK) as far as I can see. I've seen a raft of poor reviews on them but never sprung and certainly wouldn't pay $100 for a stick unless it was Behike like. Super interested to see if anyone has any positive reviews of this or any other non-Cuban Cohiba

Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted November 22, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 22, 2021 I have smoked and reviewed all the past years of Cohiba releases. Serie M: https://developingpalates.com/reviews/cigar-reviews/team-cigar-review-cohiba-serie-m/ Royale Toro: https://developingpalates.com/reviews/cigar-reviews/team-cigar-review-cohiba-royale-toro-royale/ The Spectre CS19 I smoked too late to be included in the panel review, but it would have scored in the low 6's. What I have learned is that regardless of brand there is almost never a relationship between price and how good the cigar is. 12
garbandz Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 there will always be a sucker standing in line to hand over his money for a newest- greatest- look -at- me overpriced cigar. the Cohiba name has certainly been used this way. 1
Digi Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 I should be able to get my mits on one as they start making appearances. Would be glad to post up a review once in hand. You never know...maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise 1 1

Would be interesting to know if they also compare to any CC flavor wise. 1

With that said; they're stupid expensive and for me there's a massively diminishing return over $12. Don't really compare to CC profile wise. 1 3
Popular Post Digi Posted December 10, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 10, 2021 Managed to get my hands on two examples - one from Neptune in Miami and one from a local shop here in Seattle, Rain City Cigar. Going to let them chill for 30 days or so then sample and review. Paid $119 and $132, respectively. The local shop had 5 boxes in total, which I was surprised to hear given the limited release - Seattle isn't much a known quantity in the US cigar scene. They sold 4 before noon the day they came in and kept one for singles. Also spotted one of the enormous 7x70 Cohiba Blues - the cigar is so big it made me chuckle. That and the shop didn't sell a portable cutter to handle the gauge 😅 The construction is what I'd expect - flawless. Interestingly, both examples have a triple cap. Both cigars have a good amount of heft to them. Colorado rosado to Colorado maduro in color, silky smooth wrapper but not a lot of oil. Sloppy second band application on one of the cigars, which was surprising. They come in a semi-transparent, red plastic tubo with Gold brand reminders festooning the length. The tube looks nice from a distance but, to be honest, feels cheap in the hand. The cigar is wrapped in cello inside the tube and, in both cases, was a real PITA to get them out. Had to shake the tubo like I was packing some cigarettes, haha. That will definitely NOT look cool on Instagram. The nose on both sticks was thin. Little bit of mushroom and some light floral notes. Just a hint of pepper on one. Looking at the foot of the cigar, there is a kaleidoscope of brown shades from light tan to nearly black, clearly several different types of leaf in the roll. Will report back with tasting notes in about a month! 5
Kaptain Karl Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 This is like my friends winery here locally that decided to make the most expensive Pinot Noir in Sonoma County (nope, not the best, just the most expensive) as an allure to the wealthy across the country. Its futures sells out ever year! 4
Popular Post Digi Posted January 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2022 Just adding a couple pictures. 2 4
finecigar Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Was gifted 5 of these. From the outside they are lovely, sheen wrappers, with excellent construction. I actually enjoyed the one I smoked so far; however, I had quite a few drinks in me so I can't give an accurate assessment 😜Hoping to try one more sober soon. 1 1
Enduin Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 It might be a great cigar but that faux carbon fiber band is one of the tackiest things I've ever seen... 2

It cuts down on the weight of the cigar so you can smoke it faster. Rumor is that Lewis Hamilton swears by them. 5

Yeah for real - it's like something from Porsche Design, circa 2005. The box and tubes don't have the best feel either. Kind of surprising because I think the C8 pictured above is well done.
vintagerodshop Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I have never smoked a premium non cuban that was better than a mediocre cuban.
