El Presidente Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Hunting & Cigars. Cuba 1873. C.D. Fredricks and Daries (Fredricks y Daries) was a 19th-century photographic partnership between American photographer Charles DeForest Fredricks (1823-1894) and French photographer Augusto Daries. The partnership was active primarily in Havana, Cuba, opening a studio there in 1857. They were known for their portrait photography, producing cartes de visite (small visiting card-sized photographs). Their studios were internationally linked, with the backs of their photographs often listing addresses in multiple cities: Havana, Cuba: Calle de la Habana 108 New York, USA: 585-587 Broadway (at Fredricks' "Photographic Temple of Art") Paris, France: Passage du Havre 36 & 38 Both men had established independent careers and other partnerships. Fredricks was a prominent and fashionable portrait photographer in New York City, and Daries partnered with him in his New York, Paris, and Havana studios. Many examples of their work are held in museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Library of Congress. 2
