"A light wrapper does not make a mild cigar!"

I would argue this is true....to a degree.

Whether it be a claro wrappered Des Dieux or a similarly anaemic coloured Trini Coloniales,   I've been guilty of badly misjudging both in the past, and ending up green behind the gills, and overwhelmed by the tannic power and nicotine omphff of such cigars.

Some claro wrappered cigars are blended for the long haul, and are by no means to be considered powderpuffs in the first few years

I don't think there are any total truisms in cigar blending........apart from Cohiba's or overpriced  ??........but seriously....... not kidding  ??

Gotta love when your wine and cigars are both in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box.

Ha! That reminds me of when I moved to Charlotte, NC for a year. I was young, single, and played up being from California wine country when meeting the 'southern bells'. I met a group of good looking girls at a bar,  and of course proclaimed I was from wine country. One blushed with excitement and proclaimed her love for wine. I asked what her favorite varietal was, she responded "Moscato" ?

That was the last time I used that line!

You were undoubtedly in a classier joint than the dives I used to haunt in Charlotte back in the 80's. The ladies I conferred with then were mostly Boone's Farm fans. They would've only been familiar with Napa Valley if they staged a Nascar race there.

Ha! I know that Charlotte is a far different city 5 years ago than it was even 10 years before. When I was at the bars then, most of the women I meant were northerners who moved south. And that wasnt what this west coast boy wanted to run into haha. Seemed like more than half the city were northerner's escaping to southern weather, economic opportunity and cost of living. And those from Ohio who left because...Ohio.
