SansSin Posted November 24, 2020 Share Posted November 24, 2020 if it's only for a few months i'll just take the cap off but if it's long term storage i take them out of the tube. i think aging them in the tubes with those cedar inserts gives them an overpowering cedar taste after a few years, plus the peace of mind being able to see they are mold free Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For me, tubes kind of fill in gaps in the wineador and I use them as spacers for my other cigars too. To prevent the overwhelming cedar, couldn't you remove the cedar insert? Just about every box tubos I've bought has had at least a couple sticks with mold. I've never had it reappear after they're wiped clean. I have also put regular sticks into tubes for long storage , just to see what happens. after three of four years, some of my Upmanns and Partagas pc's show very rich aromas and lots of flavor, and the extra little hint of cedar.
