off to switzerland tomorrow.. would love members opinions

i already have two boxes of the bolivar soberano.. are they worth getting a third box of? or should i resort to a box of lets say 3/4 year aged D4 or Fuerza?

This goes back to the dilemma of one box of a great LE or double the amount of cigars of your favourite regular production for the same price.

let me know what you guys think

I'd vote double the amount of your favorite regular production for the same price. More opportunities for more great cigars.

I've smoked a Soberano.  Definitely a nice stick, but not one I'd reach for often.  If you have two boxes and plenty of other cigars to choose from, I'd suggest smoking through those slowly over time.  Now if you're going somewhere where you can select from some aged stock, I'd say save your money for that.  But that's just me.  EL's you can get pretty much anywhere. Some here, or other e-tailers, B&M's or your local CC flipper.  :P  Good, aged stock is harder to find and best bought with you present. So you can see, smell, maybe touch before you buy.

I’m a Bolivar fan, but not enamored with these so far.  I have smoked 3 or 4.  Maybe needs more time, but I am not too hopeful that they will turn into anything more than a decent cigar that is overpriced for what it is.

I've only had one, in fact my first Bolivar ever. Didn't know age, but it seemed young. I thought it was OK, and figured I was just paying a big cigar shop markup, but then I saw the going rate for a single elsewhere. I just don't see the value there. Given the option and money as no object, there are about 15 cigars I would reach for before I went for a Soberano. Again, not bad...just unremarkable.

It depends. Personally, I like to diversify so if I already had two boxes I would buy some aged stock. Especially when you mentioned Partagas. They’re so yummy with a few years on them. Some of these ELs are really good, with soberano being one of them, but I have to say that aged and discontinued regular production sticks beats the ER and EL, generally speaking.

If you already have two boxes, why don't you just smoke a couple and find out?

Nobody else that's posted has the same taste as you. So their responses, while good natured, don't really mean much. Just because Joeblow loves/hates them, doesnt mean you will.

Had several from different boxes. Very good cigar. 93-94 points for me. But I can find 93-94 point regular production for less than half the price of the Soberanos.

I think these are one of the most overpriced ELs ever. Libertadores are only $20 each for god's sake. These should have been priced similar to the Monte Dantes--low $200s. Bolivar is supposed to be a lower-priced marca...I guess that's out the window. The 14 Super Coronas were already overpriced. Now they've gone full stupid with it.

I would get more for your money with some quality regular production. If you are a Boli fan then you already  know what you like. If not, try a few BBF, PC and/or Royal Coronas and see how they compare to the soberano. Enjoy your trip!

If you have 2 boxes you are probably best placed to answer, do you like them? Will you appreciate the extra box more than 2 boxes of your usual favourite smokes?

I did sample one last week, its pure chocolate..I do love them but difficult to gage if 10 sticks of a nice LE is more worth it than 25 sticks of a great regular
