Newbie here, first time post.   I have a twenty minute commute to work, and a tight budget.   Below is a list of things I read about that seem like they fit the bill.  Let me know what your thoughts are and I appreciate the help.

1. Cohiba Shorts

2. Partagas Chicos

3. Jose L. Piedra - Petit Cazadores

Trini shorts ... but maybe move further away from your job for smoking purposes. Lol. Welcome.

I’ve got all three of those on order including some Rafael Panatelas. Rob says the Cohiba shorts are the best but the Chico’s get honorable mention too.

Pot Larranaga or Rafael Gonzalez Panetelas. Although they usually last longer than 20 minutes for me.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but a possible alternative is an inexpensive robusto like the Quintero Favoritos.  This is a short-filler cigar, so it tends to burn more quickly.  The flavors in the first first half are robust and quite pleasing to my palate.  I wouldn't feel bad about smoking half, then ditching it.

I just went through a box of them and didn’t like them too much. I like JLP’s much better. I probably won’t buy Quintero again.

Try some of the Panatelas out there.  They could be done in 20 minutes.  HUHC is good too, but in 20 mins you'd be rushing it.  It's a cigar you savour for at least a 1/2 hour IMO.

Sweet, if you end up trying them anytime soon let me know your thoughts.

I dont know of a 20 minute cigar.

Of the three, I’d pick Jose L Piedra Petit Cazadores based on their larger ring gauge, and great experiences with the discontinued JLP Petit Cetros.

Here is what comes to mind - I have not had the pleasure of trying, however:

Por larranaga panetelas

Rafael Gonzales panetelas

CoSho for me - though that’s more of a 10-15 minute smoke.

The Chicos are a great smoke. For me they are about 15 mins. If you can stretch the budget - the ERDM Demi Tasse is a great little smoke. Cohiba Shorts and Clubs are also a good cheap smoke that wont break the bank and they are about 10 mins.

But...with the price point of the Cohiba Club, Partagas Chicos and Cohiba Shorts...I steer away from smoking my ERDM Demi Tasse and let them age (5 year mark is good apparently).

You're right - just finishing a MAY 2007 box here and they are quite good..

The Quintero panatelas are my favorite of the Quinteros, but they are so cheap you can try different vitolas and see what works for you.

El Rey Del Mundo Demi Tasse ...

This is easily a 30 min smoke, and that's for the loosely-rolled ones.

I vote Partagas Chicos.  When had on sale, they're easy to stock up on and hard to beat.  One if my favorite Partagas.

Chicos.

The cigarette of the "taste of Cuba." Unwrap, light, get the taste, toss! Leave them on the dashboard of your car. Care is secondary! Low cost, consistent satisfaction.

I'm a smoke and drive to work guy as well (35-45 min drive)

From your list those Cohiba shorts are fantastic little smokes that would fit your timeline perfect. ERDM Demi Tasse and Partagas shorts are in that timeline as well.

H. Upmann half coronas

Bolivar Petit Corona

Por Larranaga Montecarlos

Thats what i'm usually taking instead

My vote is Partagas Shorts. I've been loving them for years. Perfect balance of one cup of coffee and smoke time for me. Cabs are the best but to start get a dress box.

Sub 20min, you're pretty much stuck with Cohiba Shorts & Trini Shorts.

As others have said PLPs, HUHCs, etc are generally 35+min smokes.

This might be blasphemy around here but I fire up a stogie on my way to work and 3 hours later finish it at lunch. Lately it's been cold so there isnt much effect but when its warm out you can really only tell a difference after firing it up for the first couple minutes.

I have 4 kids so I get interrupted all the time when I'm having a smoke. Many times I get my guillotine out and chop 1/2" from the cherry and blow all the smoke out. I then resume when time allows. I have zero complaints as long as you resume that day. I've tried an overnighter and it didnt work out. Most likely because it got too dry.

You can also cut a stick in half and that can be your 30 minute smoke. I'd explore all these options before I went with a cigarello. I never had a CCigarello, but those NCigarellos are trash.

Nice work aging those. I might put a box away for some long term ageing.
