canadianbeaver Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Only comes off if intact as band. I put it on my finger as ring while smokin’. Yup. CB 1
dicko Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Band off usually (unless its glued on). Nothinh to do with etiquette i just prefer the feel/grip od the wrapper versus the glossy bandSent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

This^^^^. I have ruined enough cigars over the years by taking the band off early that I wait until the ash comes a few centimeter away from the band. By then the glue has usually melted enough to take the band off safely. In the end, what other people think of me, is several steps down the priority list from ruining a good cigar. 2 1
Ethernut Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Band stays on till I have to take it off like @madandana said. However, if I don't have to take the band off before the cigar is complete, I'm a little pissed. 1
SansSin Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 band on so i don't stain my white gloves like a proper gentleman ?
Capt. Corona Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Pre light ritual..... check to see if band is loose enough to slide around with very minimal pressure.... if it is...the first two things that go through my thoughts are this. 1. The torcedor knows what they were doing and didn't make a kindergarten project out of the cigar......2. The cigar has rested long enough for it lose enough moisture to shrink down a bit. If it is loose enough I'll slide it off before the flame. If not, I'm probably making a mistake putting a flame to it. 1
Nino Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Mostly smoke unbanded anyway but if banded I will take it off as soon as it is possible without damage to the wrapper.
BlueRidgeFly Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I keep it on. Take some pics. As it heats up it comes off more easily. Usually.
BeerPimp Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Did you say take the band or bands off? ? 2
cmbarton Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Some people make love with their socks on ... but like the bands on my cigars, I prefer to take them off. 1
Nico Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Did you say take the band or bands off? With those bands I leave them on and smoke through them, like a true alpha . With regular bands I leave them on the first quarter. Mostly because I want to snap a picture for my journal. After that I take the band of. The band I always positioned in the place where I’m holding the cigar, and I don’t like the feeling of the paper. I much rather feel the texture of the cigar itself. 1
kalibratecuba Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I like to see the band loosen with age. I don't take it off unless I think it is causing the tight draw. 8 out of 10 times, my cigar is usually plugged right under the bands. Does a tightly applied band compress the tobacco that much?Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk
