Grand Final Qualifiers - the big guns are really clashing now, so we should see very close voting... should! (I can never tell with these things ;)). You know the drill: read the question, vote on the poll, elaborate in the thread if you so desire. Voting participants go into the draw for an El Pres sampler! - Drawn next Wednesday (Aus local time). :spotlight:

All about 50/50...

50/50 is a weekly poll where we find out whether or not some serious bones of contention questions can be finally be buried or will instead remain above ground as a fleshy 50/50 debate... you know, such weighty issues as these...

If given no other option:

do you prefer Hunnicutt or Trapper in M*A*S*H?

Connery or Moore as Bond?

Apple or PC?

Smooth or Crunchy peanut butter?

do you prefer wearing men's or women's underwear?

 Sacrificing chickens or virgins?

...that sort of standard fare.

Vote in the poll and further bolster your standpoint in the thread below if you wish. Poll Votes are public and there's a couple of sticks up for grabs for participants.

Also, PM me Polls that you'd like me to conduct on 50/50 and there'll be a prize for those we decide to use.

Star Wars would be the easy choice and I enjoy them but not the way many others do. As of now The Matrix is 100%. When do I get my prize ?

Damn you.  I didn't know this was a bracket.  Excited to see the results.  Star wars has gotta stay, but that's mainly because I imagine the matrix would be recreated if the void needed filling.

Seriously? Didn’t even have to pause this time.

Does all these comments mean it’s not 100% for The Matrix anymore?

Another easy one for me. 3 movies from the Matrix, 1.5 were good. 9 core movies from Star Wars, and 4.5 of them were good. Plus the lore, the childhoods they played a roll in.

I mean, for me, this should be a 90/10 split in favor of keeping Star Wars.

those star wars sequels kinda ruined the franchise for me and i'm a Keanu Reeves fan so i say the matrix. plus i saw all the matrix movies in theaters as a kid. you all see matrix 4 is coming out with moss and reeves coming back? hoping they don't ruin it for me like star wars.

The premise is that Neo took the red pill, had a bad trip, and imagined all the events from the sequels. He wakes up the next morning in a tub filled with ice, vague memories of Trinity and Morpheus, and is oddly missing a kidney.

haha as long as it doesn't have pod racing i'll watch it. i was thinking they would have bill and ted go back in time and grab neo then they go pick up john wick to fight a disposable cgi army with a sky beam.

Nope. The new film, Matrix: Repercussions, is all about Neo realising he has been ruining his life by going out drinking and drugging, computer hacking, and chasing fantasies. Neo decides he needs to straighten out his life, despite interference from Trinity and Morpheus.

The follow on film, Matrix: Reality, sees Thomas Anderson (he has now dropped the handle Neo) working hard at his job, slowly creeping up the corporate ladder, paying his taxes on time, settling down with a wife and 2.5 kids (one was born with no legs, due to Neo's drug taking past), and becoming an upstanding, but completely boring, member of society. The film ends with a morose Mr Anderson promoted to senior accounts manager, but suffers a massive heart attack, falling face first dead into his congratulations cake.

Somehow, I don't think it will be a box office hit....

Without Spielberg, Star Wars lost it's Mojo

I'm thinking you mean George Lucas, since AFAIK the only role Spielberg ever had in SW was watching an early edit of the first one and telling George it was great.

Easy, Star Wars for me. The Matrix made one good movie before it started getting silly, where at least with Star Wars, they made three before it started really going off the rails, and following on from the dismal prequel series, Disney at least made one and a half good ones, although admittedly the good one was not part of the core movies.

Do the maths (just on the core movies):

Matrix 1/3 = 33%

Star Wars = 3.5/8 = 43.75%

If you include the non-core movies, that's 4.5/9 for Star Wars = 50%

Star Wars is the clear winner here.
