Sh*t- I’ll say it.  I won’t watch it. I’m tired of the social justice  agenda being imposed on everyone and the corporate-government-globalist attempts to make things a perfectly equal rainbow fa

Please God No!!!! Can you imagine what Ian Fleming (the creator of Bond) would think of all this? I mean he wrote Bond as a martini-swizzling, three pack a day cigarette smoker.

Dumb if true.  A potential franchise killer.  Creating a side series with a female Bond "type" character would be the smarter play. An agent "069" if you will. ? Should it prove successful, cross

After Craig got his nads destroyed in the most ridiculous scene in casino royale he’s gonna come back as gender fluid trans bond In a couple of years?

They say Craig is balding badly which jeopardizes his future as 007. Perhaps a woman's wig?

I for one, and I am likely the minority in this group, like seeing hot, ass kicking, female bad assess. But alas, I never thought it would be as a "007". I like female heroines and the femme fatale genre, but there is some well established Bond parlance that simply does not work in an feminine role. For example....

I agree completely and even my comments were not about "A" female playing a major role.... just NOT James Bond.

Sigourney Weaver comes to mind as a leading lady in action/Horror Sci-Fi that I love immensely.

Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde wasn't that bad either.

Ian Fleming's character James Bond in a MAN.  Jane Bond???? I didn't know I wanted that. Now that I think about it, nope I don't want that. Not even a little bit. Bond worked with soviet super spy "Triple X" Mrs Ringo Starr(Barbara Bach) in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. I'll go for a whole bunch more of that hotness.

Haha a weaponized wig that allows him to empathize with the enemy.   Seriously, they said he’s constantly griping on set.  I’m thinking “ dude you’re bond! This is a privilege and duty to keep this franchise alive!”

that said, i think that the passion shown for this topic shows that this won't go as easily as they might have hoped.

Passion for James Bond is always there @Ken Gargett..... How many Bond threads have we created on this very forum over the past years? :D

We may very well be nearing the last of these should they replace Craig with a female lead. Sadly....

If it actually does come to fruition, I guess we'll see. But if EON can put bums in seats, I'm not sure that a vocal minority will much matter.

Kind of sounds a bit like the Cuban cigar industry .....

I'm kind of torn, initially I hate the idea.

But if the way it's written is that she's a violent, sexually manipulative, chain-smoking alcoholic then it could be great.

I'm more inclined to see Frank's idea come to fruition though; have a spin off franchise and see if it succeeds on it's own merit and then have cross over films like they have in recent Marvel/DC releases

If it's done for the right reasons, ie story driven then I'm open to it, if it's being done purely because of a social agenda then I'd rather propaganda be left to party political broadcasts so I can have enough forewarning to turn over. One thing we don't need at the moment is more politics..

I concur with the Captain.  If they turned Atomic Blonde into a franchise I'd watch every film that came out.  Expanding diversity in film should be more about letting the women create fitting roles, rather than try to cram them into an existing legacy.

I only just re-watched Kung Fu Hustle last week! :D Love that movie!

Funny this is actually on the James Bond thread because the actress Qiu Yuen from Kung Fu Hustle "Was" a Bond Girl, specifically Roger Moore’s “The Man with the Golden Gun,” as one of the nieces of Lieutenant Hip (Soon-Tek Oh) named Nara, seen around the 4:52 mark in the video below and on Moores left in the still. ;)

Congratulations to the Broccoli family!  You've taken a proven formula that has generated one of the most successful franchises in movie history and turned it completely on its head.

Spot on thinking and worthy of an appropriate bonus to the corporate clear-thinking individual who conceived the idea!

There have been some great ones. First that come to mind to me are Uma Thurman in Kill Bill (and really, all her cast mates), and Sandahl Bergman in Conan the Barbarian.

And of course, Xena, warrior princess.... :wink2:

Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld franchise has been great.
