At no point can physical assault become acceptable in a society that aspires to be civilised.

Seems tough to control. If milkshakes are outlawed, then society will suffer. And only outlaws will have milkshakes. Or so I’m told.

Bring back the stocks! Perpetrator gets put in stocks in the city square where passing pedestrians can throw free milkshakes at them during a 3 hour window.  Same goes for egg throwers

It isn't a great thing. To disagree with someones politics is one thing but we shouldn't be there throwing stuff at them. It sets an example that spills into other parts of society. Today a teller was apparently also "milkshaked". Pretty sad really.

When violent right wing's attack they use assault rifles (see Christchurch and dozens of others in the US) and kill dozens in minutes. Leaving scores of dead people not a dry cleaning bill.

Heres a point to think on.

People like Nigel Farage and Steve Banon are NOT politicians!!! they are single issue individuals trying to stir up racist sentiment and hate. Trying to radicalise and weaponise poor communities, pouring poison in their ears and telling them all their woes are the fault of immigrants.

Yes throwing milkshakes on innocent old men is terrible.    BUT...... if that innocent old man was supporting the National front or the Brown shirts I'd gladly throw a 1000 milkshakes in his face.

- Becoming intolerant of opposing, but valid opinion, is plain and simple hate

- Opposing those who seek to sow hate and division (like the brownshirts) should be met with any means necessary to stop them.

I don't support people throwing milkshakes on people, but it's nothing compared to what happens if you don't stop these people at source.   It's there in the pages of history as plain as day

You should be honest and just come out and say straight up that you think violence is okay as long as it’s in pursuit of the far left agenda. That’s quite literally what you are saying

And look at what I bolded. Lol zero self awareness. You clearly have a lot of hate in your heart.  Just be honest. You think any opinion besides the far left orthodoxy of the day is hate. And that anyone who doesn’t fall in line with it must be a Nazi Brownshirt and should be met with hate, violence, or worse.

Violence is never acceptable.

The Brownshirts began as a non violent movement, that insisted the poverty and ills of the German people was caused by the Political elite and "non-Germans" .  The Brown shirt went un-opposed and turned into the Nazi party.

So to follow your rule of thumb... how back in the days of the Brownshirts do you maintain civilised behaviour as seek to stop them?.    Neville Chamberlian was very civilised with them.....didn't work out too well for him

I had not realised that the "left" had lost the ability to articulate and carry an argument.

If they have, I respectfully suggest that the answer is not in launching dairy.

Rob, how is being opposed to racists being on the left?

I do not support what they are doing, but is sickens me to see the likes of Nigel Farage and Steve Banon radicalising poor communities and sowing hate.

Question....how do you stop these people?

"Racist" is a term largely used by the Left to attack the right on immigration policy.   No doubt many are...... and no doubt many aren't.

How do you stop these people?

The tool is democracy coupled with intelligent and articulate argument + a vigilant and vibrant media. Handy is a long term  immigration policy that is supported by the majority for the benefit of the country and not merely a plaything of the incumbents ideology.

I can completely agree with this.

I would suggest conservative party policy in the UK is a right wing policy, that whilst I may not agree with it, I do not consider racist in any way shape of form.

Whereas the Brexit party and UKIP are not right wing parties, they are racist's posing as right wing politicians.    This is partly the core of my disgust with the whole thing.

I would say exactly the same thing of Jeremy Corbyn,  he is a socialist and a communist, and he's effectively using the Labour party as cover. As a labour voter, I cant stand the fact he's taken over the party away from its working class roots.

It is not a uniquely UK thing.

The sensible "Centre" has been vacated in many western democracies with the "left' going far left and the "right" far right.

That's why I'm a radical moderate! ?

Vigilant protection of the expression of opposing viewpoints, especially from violence.
