The scene below was pointed out to me years ago. At around the 3 minute mark of the clip below Marlon Brando, Don Corleone, is telling the Virgil the turk Sollozzo why he isn't interested in his business proposal. As Brando sits down next to Solllozzo he brushes something off of the chair arm, a little dust, maybe. Little unscripted things like that come from the instincts of the very best actors. They just do it, it probably can't be taught. Unless you try to do it and see how hard it is to act on that level it's hard to appreciate just how rare a performance like Brando's is. Don't get me wrong, 2 is among the greatest movies of all time as well, but Brando's performance in 1 makes it my choice for the better of the two. If you got 7 hours to kill one day, watch The Godfather Epic put out by HBO a few years ago.
