This is so interesting.  One of my favorite names for a girl is Alethea.  It ostensibly means “truth” but I find it more poetically parsed out as “A-lethe” or “without forgetting.”  I would have just assumed that Althea was just an alternative spelling but apparently means “healing” and was used to refer to the marshmallow plant which many sought out for its healing properties.  It’s also a great name!

I too assumed it was an alternate spelling of Alethea.  +2 for learning.
