poorman Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Was watching a show and narrator/host says they’re going to one of the most remote towns on earth. Got me wondering, where in resides the most remote FOH member. Rob will know from shipping info...but you outliers can start chiming in.
MrGlass Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 According to the Member Map, I'd say @earthson over on Easter Island. I suspect it isn't entirely accurate. 2
poorman Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 I’m not on the map, pretty sure lots aren’t. Actually, very curious about this. Hope lots chime in.
cfc1016 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Anchorage AK signing in, though I know I’m not the MOST remote. Cliff Claven fun fact of the day: the most remote inhabited place on earth is the volcanic island Tristan da Cunha. It’s the last stop on the way to St. Helena - where Napoleon was exiled. It was originally settled by a british military outpost, whose sole duty was to stop the french from rescuing Napoleon. It is now populated by ~340 people. They only adopted CURRENCY in the last few decades. You have to take one of only several annual boats from Capetown (~1,500 mile journey) to get there and back. They only have internet access occasionally... when the generator gets fired up 1
poorman Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 St. Helena has had an airport since 2016 - thank god
LordAnubis Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Perth in west Australia is the most isolated city in the world apparently (city furthest away from another city). Some bloody fine cigar brothers here though I was in Mali for a few years. Does that count? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
poorman Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 Well, Perth has plenty around it. For reference, host was in Batagay, Russia
Piligrim Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I'm in Novokuznetsk, Russia. it's 11500 kilometers from Sidney

ha_banos Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Well I live in Enfield, UK. Speaking to folks who live in Camden or Islington is the only way I came to realise just how remote I am! There are no cigar shops near by. So thankfully FOH are able to cater for me too And forget a smoking lounge LOL What are you like!? Trying to find decent Street food is a nightmare around here. And there's not much in the way of Christmas markets let alone ice skating nearby. Have to travel to the town of Harringey for such amenities. By train. Which is a decaying infrastructure here. So much so that there is no WiFi at most stations let alone on the train itself. The lights on the train even switch off at some stations. Perhaps power shortage? They can never predict how long it will take to travel from station to station. Do when the train does come it's a frightful journey. The roads are narrow and if not crumbling are patches of repairs. Very bumpy! And fettled with obstacles making road travel a real slow mission. Occasionally when these lights turn green it's possible to make some progress. We do suffer from a severe lack of resources. I guess this is why there is theft even here. Remote as we may be we have to lock down anything useful or not. I do think we are a bit of a novelty too. We have many people who come here fromn metropolis such as Australia and New Zealand but they don't last long before they head back to civilization We do have phone lines, but they are often down. Perhaps this is the generator. Old BerT, BT we call him ... Cheeky bugger. You can't hate him. There is still no fibre service available so stuck on this Victorian copper I think it's called... Anyway sorry for the long post. It's nice to have a forum connecting us despite of our remoteness! Now I think it's time for a moccachino while I spark up a smoke... Good tidings! Don't forget us! B. P.s. the pic is typical during our current Arctic weather. There's just on enough room in the train for these fluffy hoods. Inevitably crammed in someone's face. Now where's my Oyster?... Duxnutz Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 We’re a long way from anywhere here in Hawaii but we have MacDonalds and liquor. ?

Markspring1978 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I live at the top of a mountain in Montana in the Rocky Mountains, the view out my living room windows are the same as it would have been 500 years ago. Perhaps not the most remote, but that might count for something. 4
ponfed Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 There wasn't any cigar in the cockpit, but questions like that always remind me of the guy in the orbital module around the moon when the other guys were ont the surface. When the module was on the other side of the moon, that guy was the farthest away from a human being that any human being has ever been....
Popular Post Derboesekoenig Posted November 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted November 29, 2018 I've been confined for nearly 2 years at a base in Afghanistan, about a 3-4 hour drive to the border of Pakistan. 1 4
David88 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I’m currently in Cairo but I was living in Mongolia for the last two years, there isn’t a McDonald’s or Starbucks in the country let alone a lcdh!

There actually is an LCDH in Mongolia. In fact, there was a post about a member who visited back in July I believe. Ulaanbaatar?

There is a shop that sells cigars and has a lounge called habanos, but it certainly isn’t a la casa and you would need to be careful with what you buy from there.

It appeared as an LCDH, but wasn't. I do remember them saying something about a horrible selection and quality of storage.
