I'm just curious to know what the youngest Cuban cigar people have smoked....

I just got a couple of boxes of cigars dated July 2018....not very old...

Are they smokable ?

Thanks for any info.....Jim2fdfb3ddff7102544e697c44f1a8a3c3.jpge2f7d2b2369fc604d5847acd8910f672.jpg4b9ce90f36e378cbb7a917ff19064107.jpg83dbe69c38a684609d81c7822ba3d2ee.jpgbd2f43e078da7a7e178e985942b974ec.jpga9d5963e8ac7125cc1c7dc6d5a524da8.jpg

Smoke one after a month of rest from shipping. See how it tastes! Maybe you well like it maybe you won't, the only way to know is sample.

The D4s and the HURR are pretty good young.

I ordered a box of those BRC's as well.  After a few days in the coolerdor, I decided to try one as ROTT and note my impressions.  I will do the same after 30 and 60 days to measure the difference.  I at least hope to age some more than a year.  For what it's worth, I noted some wood and leather in the first third, some toast in the second and light cream with a hint of stewed fruit in the last third.  It smoked very well overall.  The flavors were definitely a bit muted and will get better with age.  Still a very worthwhile smoke at this young age.  Enjoy!

make it 90 and 180 days...…….

not much going on age wise, but a better chance to notice any difference.

you should not encounter any ammonia...……...

I will do my best to wait the extra days.  I'm just anxious to finally have a rotating supply of CC's and not have to rely on NC's to bide the time.  There was no ammonia smell or taste in the Boli.  The only time I've really experienced that was in a recent 2X2 piramid sampler.  One Partagas Serie P No. 2 was almost unsmokable from start to finish.  3 days later, the other was fine. No idea of the age on them.

All these cigars get better over the years. D-series is recommended to Smoking 3+ years when there's no ammonia. But a lot depends on your taste. As a rule, the sharpness and ammonia is reduced when accompanied by alcohol. Try one after acclimatization and decide how to be

Easy - I smoked a cigar I rolled myself (with the help of a professional roller from El Laguito) at the Habanos Festival. It was enormous but smokeable ?

None whatsoever. But I haven’t experienced any ammonia scent or flavor in any Cuban cigars since about ‘08.
Hummmm.....do you smoke young cigars....
Cause I've gotten it quite a bit....or maybe my taste buds are not identifying the flavor correctly....

Anyone have any ideas what I may be tasting..
Thanks Hutch

I like that punchy tannic taste from a fresh cigar.  Maybe not all the time, but it's a welcome change!

About two years ago in Cuba I bought a box of Punch Punch with just a month on them. They were absolutely fantastic, they definitely had some mongrel to them but it was good mongrel.

Several months later they were still great but had noticably lost their bite and become a bit muted. It's taught me that cigars shoudn't be routinely buried in the humidor for a couple of years simply because they are young. Sample regularly, and if they're good, dive in.

In Cuba, many Cigars are smoked tastier. Maybe it's all about the humidity, and maybe it's the spirit of real freedom in the air has an impact
