SigmundChurchill Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 So I bought a box of Siglo VI a few weeks ago from a vendor I have had good results with in the past. It came with a UAO box code, and the one I tried ROTT tasted and smoked beautifully. Keep in mind that this is my almost daily smoke so I know what it is supposed to taste like. So I ordered 2 more boxes. They came yesterday. One had a UAO box code, the other one had no box code at all and no date. The cigars look fine, and smell like what I would expect them to smell like, and the bands are real. Normally, I would just send them back immediately, but I see some of the stuff that Rob gets from Habanos SA on here. Cigars with the wrong name printed on the box, boxes of cigars that are supposed to have bands on them, but dont, etc. So it has me wondering, is it really possible that they let a box of cigars go through that have no box code or date stamped on the bottom?
havanaclub Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 If it were me, especially being Siglo VI and the cost of those, I would send them back. Ask for another box or refund. But that’s just me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Popular Post Derboesekoenig Posted September 3, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 3, 2018 I'm not sure about the box code, but you smoke a Siglo VI every day? Wow can I come hang out? Goals right there! 3 2
garbandz Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I expect you could consider it from the same batch, since those move pretty fast. Unlikely a vendor would have two batches different at the same time. Do the sticks look alike box to box ?

Yes. The vendor gets what they get from the distributor and I'm sure they would try to pass it along to a customer and hope for no complaints. Unfortunately for them if there is a complaint I would expect the vendor to replace the box making the gamble really not worth it IMO. Most of your profit just evaporates if you have to ship a second box for free. Usually, vendors have other relationships that should allow them to blow out their seconds. Some vendors sell single sticks, some sell seconds or slightly damaged or flawed boxes. I would sell this as a damaged box fully disclosing the missing code at a 5-10% discount. Personally, I wouldn't go through the trouble of shipping it back as HSA has been known to fail to stamp boxes. Not often, but I've seen it enough times to make me not really care. However, that's me. If you're uncomfortable with it, any trusted vendor should replace it. 2
SCgarman Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 OP, why don't you post pictures? Cigars, box, everything! Visual trumps any verbal description.
saintsmokealot Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 It's happened before. Assuming you have the serial numbers check those for authenticity and make sure they aren't the same.

ElJavi76 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Elliot, if these are from where I think they're from I think you're ok. You can always smoke one and see how it performs... If it's crap or you can tell a difference then sacrifice a real one and send them back. He's not gonna credit you a box minus one but you slide one to complete the box and send back. I'd do that sooner than later. This way you can avoid the bs of, you've had these three weeks and you wanna send them back now? My .02¢ 2
NYMets01 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 These look pretty legit and as long as the bar code and serial numbers all check out, you’re probably good to go. However, as others have stated if you’re uncomfortable in the slightest, no harm in sending them back either.
SCgarman Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I see nothing that stands out as dubious. This could just be carelessness at the factory. Humans aren't perfect. They look very nice and bands too.
Piligrim Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 i've got boxes without box stamp from distributor couple of times, so this is possible. but I never sell those by boxes, because of possible doubts. mostly by singles in my shop. 1
El Presidente Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Boxes without stamped codes are as rare as lying politicians. I will post up an example in another thread now. 1 1 1

Thanks! 1
Puros Y Vino Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 On my last trip to Havana (mar 2017) there was tons of RASS 50 cabs all over town without box codes. They looked fine otherwise. I suspect a noob bypassing that step is to blame? 2
TBird55 Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I have 4 boxes with no codes, epi 1, Esplendidos, BBF and another I can't remember right now. All are real CC's. A couple came from our host, others didn't. I wouldn't worry too much, It happens...Cuba being Cuba... 1
havanaclub Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 The other thing I noticed, now I don’t see all the front of the ribbon, but the ribbon should have the linea 1492 on it. Mind you, I recall Prez showing a beautiful box of CoRo that had the linea 1492 ribbon on it lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pag Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Could of been a busy day at factory. Guy couldn't been out of ink. So he threw it in the pile until someone retrieved some more. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk

zeedubbya Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 I have a couple boxes with no codes, also had a box of Connie 1 with stamp on inside the box. That being said, with the premium paid for Siglo 6 I would likely ask for a concession of some sort. In almost all issues like this though (in my opinion) the proof is in the smoke. If they taste good keep the box—especially if you are an everyday Siglo 6 smoker. Likely just an oversight.

If that was missing as well as the box code, I would have automatically just sent them back.
