garbandz Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I try to turn mine at least twice a year, but there are a lot of them. what do you consider the optimum interval to turn them ? 2
fabes Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 One full rotation over the course of 365.25 days. 1 2
Popular Post CaskStrength Posted August 27, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 27, 2018 Never. The thought of putting the lit end in my mouth frightens me. 2 4
Doctorossi Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Every time I want to smoke one (and it's invariably one that's on the bottom), I rummage. Does that count? 1

Notsocleaver Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Every time I try to fit one more box into my humidor all of my boxes end up turned a few times inevitably. 3

Akela3rd Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 If you turn them then, predominantly in boxes rather than cabs, the front of the bands won't be visible and nicely lined up. I like that look so no turning for me.Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie
KnightsAnole Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 It’s not an unheard of thing by any measure. I don’t do it, simple too lazy to turn a couple thousand sticks, but I could potentially see the thinking behind it. Idea being not to let parts of the cigar get stuck in its micro climate for years. I just don’t think the potential rewards justify the effort.

kalibratecuba Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I move cigars into rotation for smoking or to condense the number of boxes in a humidor.I do have a thought. Couldn't you just turn a whole box a quarter turn four times a year for the same virtual benefit?Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I started off doing that, but then I switched to studded snows for the winter months and completely lost track. 1
BinBin Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I open my humi and play with my cigars so I guess that’s rotating
PapaDisco Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Glad you asked. Turning (or 'rotacion sensualmente' in the local Cuban parlance), is perhaps the most critical element of cigar aging. Aficionados will argue endlessly about whether one washes one's hands first or not and whether the process should be performed in strong or dim light. The best, aged cigars I've ever enjoyed were rotated monthly behind and immediately adjacent to the kitchen exhaust of an unlicensed Cuban pollo restaurant under the dark of the new moon. I was thinking of trying the same method, but then found another buddy was secretly having his collection rolled over by a torcedora named Esmerelda on her thighs . . . and well . . . that just sounded so much more professional . . . ? 1 2
Thig Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 We have to keep up with temperature, humidity, box date, box code and now we have to keep a rotation schedule. Somehow this is taking the fun out of cigars.
Fuzz Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I don't turn my cigars, I just rotate the humidor. 2
LLC Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I make sure mine all face North, then no rotation required. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
cigaraholic Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 If I turned my cigars once a year I wouldn’t have time to do anything else? 1
