El Presidente Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 It would be great if I could get your input on this one I went: 3 years : Montecristo 2 5 years : Por Larranaga Petit Corona 10 years: Partagas 898 Varnished "Rob I am a voyeur looking at the aged offerings of the past few weeks. The cigars are great but they are just out of my league right now. Can you help me pick a three boxes of current cigars to lay down. To make it easy, I would like to lay down one box for 3 years, one box for 5 years and one box for 8 -10 years. They would all need to be regular production stock and nothing longer than a torpedo or smaller than a petit corona. What would you suggest" 3
JohnS Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 3 years: Montecristo No.2 (I'm currently smoking through a 10 count box that was aged 3 years prior to smoking the first one). 5 years: Punch Punch 8-10 years: Por Larranaga Petit Corona (only because my preference is more caramel, less mongrel. If you want more 'bite' go 5 years) or Cohiba Linea 1492 (Siglo line)/Linea Clasica (Classic line like Robustos etc.). 2
shrink Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I am currently smoking and really enjoying cigars from the following boxes: 2006 Monte No. 2: Full-bodied, rich and strong, loaded with bittersweet flavors. 2008 Por Larranaga Petit Corona: Medium bodied, loaded with caramel flavor. 2006 Partagas 898V: Full bodied, woody and spicy with a peppery finish. 1

I had struggled with these for the first five years smoking 1 - 2 each year...I thought I had gotten a bad batch or something. Pulled one out the other day realizing they were 5 years and 2 months old. Completely different cigar!!! Tons of honey, toasted tobacco, and caramel flavors!!! Got a feeling I'll be smoking quite a few of the 40 or so I have left. 2
canadianbeaver Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I vote the following: 3 years: QDO No 50. We love them! 5 years: RASS. Box of 50 if you can do it. 10 Years: ERDMCC. Great from 2009 right now, so makes sense. CB 1
Popular Post Fugu Posted July 24, 2018 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2018 3 yrs: MdO4 5 yrs: MdO4 10 yrs and >>: MdO4 No kidding - this is a cigar I always enjoy, young or aged. But in fact a tricky question, as it is always easy to say at hindsight but difficult to foresee how current production of the long-runners of yesterday will develop in the future. So this extrapolation into the future will sure have to be taken with a grain of salt. That being said, in my decision finding of what to buy and lay down - an advice particularly aimed at the novice - I'd much rather let myself be guided by what I actually like than taking the aging potential as a prime criterion. What's good a nicely aged box of Boli T1 if you don't dig the cigar? Still, to provide my take on the question above: Up to 3 yrs - the vast majority of current production will be good to go 5 yrs (read: profits profoundly from a minimum aging): RASS, BBF, P898, Party Shorts, PLM, Hoyo Serie le Hoyo (the few original ones that survived), Trini Fundadores, RGPC 10 yrs (read - pronounced longevity): this is trickier to foresee. Party 898 seems indeed a good bet, I concur. Long-term aging potential I further see in Boli Tubos1/2/3, Boli PC, CoLa, Espy, Swinney, RyJ Churchill (preferably tubed), Upmann Noellas, RyJ Cazz, and as we are at aluminium mazos: don't discount Quintero Brevas. (widely ignoring the size limitations set by the "OP", perhaps he prefers exclusively smoking DCs by then ) 6

dominattorney Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 3 years H.Upmann Mag 46 5 years Monte no 4 10 years Trindad Coloniales
FatPete Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Out of the cigars I like, and no bigger than a torpedo, I would chose these boxes to age: 3 years : H. Upmann No 2 5 years : Robaina Unicos 10 years: Cohiba Siglo IV
Phinz Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 3 yr: BBF 5 yr: Cohiba Corona Esp. 10 yr: something from the Siglo line or Party 898
zeedubbya Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 3 yr: Sancho Panza Beli 5 year: PLPC—this is the obvious one 10 year: DC Cabs, DC Cabs, DC Cabs—Lusi, Punch DC, and Hoyo DC. I fear DC may stand for discontinued in 10 years. If you don’t wanna spend the coin—Bolivar (insert any vitola here)....Boli with 10 years is next level IMO 1
Bagman Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 3 years : Diplomatico 2 5 years : Montecristo 2 7 years : Por Larranaga Petit Corona 10 years: H.Upmann SWC
dangolf18 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 A lot of choices, but right now I'd go with this probably: 3 years: RASS 5 years: Cohiba Robusto or HU 54 10 years: PSD4, RyJ Churchill, Cohiba Esplendido or Montecristo No.2
timis300 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I like my cigars strong 3 Years: Trinidad Vigia 5 Years: Bolivar Libertador 10 Years: Cohiba Genios
