El Presidente Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I was asked this question this morning by a mate of mine who is doing a little research. The two standouts for me are the Diplomatico Bushido and the Sancho Panza Eslavo. Coincidentally they are both 109. The Sancho Panza was the regional edition for Serbia. It only came in cabinets of 50. The distributor is Camelot and the owner Alex receives my Cigar "Cojones of the decade award". I wish there were more like him! Nothing else jumps out at me like these two. From the hip: Your top 5 or 4 ....or 321 it must be since 2013
Bartolomeo Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 No particular order.....RA 225th...Bushido...Eslavo...Boli Tesoro Jury still out on: SLR Marquez, PL Sobresaliente, Don Jose 2
zyxwvu44 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 * Diplomaticos Paises Bajos* Ramon allones Gran Britannia* Quai d'orsai Francia robustoStill hoarding the Bushido for another day...Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk 1
PapaDisco Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I've enjoyed the Pacific regionals quite a bit, but all of mine have been 2011 or earlier. I have the Bushidos but have yet to dip into them (will of iron! ).
Lant63 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Bolivar Poderoso Bolivar Tesoro RA Pheoncia 35 RA 898 dip Bushido dip El ambajador JL Malecon LFDC siboney-- were trash on release and have since turned a corner Sober aliens-- still pending 2
maximus Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 SP Eslavo RA Petit Allones RA Eshmoun RA Sur JL Don Juan 1
Lotusguy Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 BushidoEslavo MaleconWorst: RG88 tied with RA Petit Allones RE AndorraLots and LOTS of mediocre ones in between. 1
mk05 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I don't know about best, but the absolute worst for me were: Bushido, Eslavo, RA898, Don Jose, and RG Petit Piramides Ironically, inversely correlated to the Chinese cigar investment boom. Specialized packaging (shiny/different) is all it takes, apparently.

IanMcLean68 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 El Pres., you said since 2013, so does 2013 itself count? The LFDC Grandiosos got a good review from yourself and Ken shortly after release. You were spot on at the time saying it needed 3-5 years, I think it is maturing into a great cigar, and will get even better with another couple of years down.
Cubadust Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I haven’t had that many but I like spains Saint Luis Rey - San Luis Tesoros from 2016. Still a little on the young side, though. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk 1

Ian, 2013 is fine LFDC G is a very good cigar. However I am aware of some underfilling issues among members. That puts a caveat on it.
ayepatz Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I agree with you, @El Presidente, I very much enjoyed the Eslavo and Bushido. I loved the H&F 225, although @LordAnubis didn’t, so I took a cab off his hands. The Boli Tesoro knocked me on my backside (not a breakfast cigar, but, hey-ho, it was a lovely day, I had plenty of time, and was feeling adventurous), but it was full of classic Boli flavours, and I’m sure they will be truly amazing with a few years on them. I’ve also enjoyed the VR Short Robaina, LE Don José, LGC Gloria, Dip Excelencia, PL Sobresalientes, and LfdC Gran Cano and Siboney. Controversially, I really enjoyed the RA 898, although patience will be required, I reckon. The Phoenicio 35 had great flavour, but was too fat at 55rg. I guess my top 5 would be, in order:- 1 - SP Eslavo 2 - RA H&F 225 3 - Boli Tesoros 4 - Dip Bushido 5 - LE Don José 1

godpheonix Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 my top 5 would be - Dip Bushido - SP Eslavo - RA 898 (getting really tasty now!) - RA H&F225 - Bolivar Poderosos 1
Stump89 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Never tried the Bushido, 225, or the Eslavo, but here they are in no particular order here: RA Short Perfectos QdO Robusto Diplomatico Diplo El Ambajador JL Chiado - great but too short LE Don Jose 1
Laxman Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Top Five 1)RA 225th 2)Dip Bushido 3)Eslavo 4)Bolivar Tesoro 5)SLR INCA- small but pure cotton candy! 1
ErikB Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 RA 898 ( still have some)Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
GasGuy82 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 4 come to mind immediately: LE Don Jose Juan Lopez Malecon RG Petit Piramide Dip Embajadores I have boxes of the RA 898, Boli Tesoro, Dip Bushido but haven't had one in a while. I wasn't blown away early on but will need to revisit. I hated the first Eslavo I had and sold off the 10-15 I had and didn't take up the offers I had to buy more. I only have one left and am now afraid that was a big mistake. I also initially hated the first Malecon I had, since that time I've had two that have blown my doors off. Lesson here is put them away and don't jump to conclusions. 1 1
finecigar Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (my top tier) RA 898, SP Eslavo, Don Jose, Malecon, Sidon Worst: Poderosos, Terra Magica, and many of the petit robustos 1
Zedman05 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Wasn't a huge fan of collecting regionals, so I have very limited experience. That said, of the 10-12 different ones I have tried, I can only put the Juan Lopez Francia petite corona from 2013/14 on my list. It was amazingly good, when fresh.
SurpriseMVP Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 RA 225th PL Sobresaliente Dip Paises Bajos RA Phoenicio 35th Can't come up with a 5th To comment on the above I did/do enjoy the LFDC Grandiosos. Gotta punch a small hole and smoke slow though. Due to 99% of them being underfilled they don't make my top 5. 1
JLFIRST Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I don't chase RE because there are so many regular production that age and smoke just as well if not better. Saying that, my top 5 since 2013 would be; 1)RA PAISES BAJOS "The Corto"2)RG PETITE PYRAMID 3)DIPLOMATIC PAISES BAJOS4)DIPLOMATIC CUBA5)Juan Lopez Benelux Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk 1
HabanosNJGuy Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 The three that have stood out for me are (in no particular order): 1. LGC Paraiso - Carribean 2. JL Eminentes - Swiss 3. RA Perfectos - Swiss I've been disappointed by many others when compared to favor profile of regular production of same marca. I do have an RA Robustos XXL Belux and JL Don Juan Benelux rolling around that I'm looking forward to. 1
