ElPuro Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Came down with a moderate cold the other day and debated whether to nonetheless have a drink/smoke. Does anyone else have that debate?
Ohhey!itskev Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Came down with a moderate cold the other day and debated whether to nonetheless have a drink/smoke. Does anyone else have that debate? Nope, I have sensitive sinuses and I lose my sense of taste when I'm sick very easily, so it's a waste.Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
awkwardPause Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 In my opinion never has been enjoyable or worth it in the end... despite the strong temptation. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Generally I will still smoke, although less. Usually don't have the desire to drink when sick so no, don't drink when sick.
NJP Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 When both are daily sports l struggle through no matter my match fitness.
rootsrock Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Yes I’m having a cold for a week now and smoked two cigars during these days. tastes like crap, strong tobacco taste and nothing much else, can’t wait to light one up once all my taste comes back, looks like forever unfortunately wonder if some strong booze will help
MahDooRow Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Add me to the "NO" list for the same reason already stated by others. I can't taste much when my sinuses are all clogged up so it ends up being a waste of money and time. 2
rascalmonkey Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 have had the flu (or something) the past 3-4 weeks & yes that's much too long to go without bolivars
David88 Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I don’t smoke when I’m ill but I will still drink. I do find a hot toddy good for getting rid of a cold/no longer caring about the symptoms!
Islandboy Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Can’t do it, everything tastes awful. Besides, no amount of cigars or booze will make me feel better - so I just soldier through the crap ‘till it’s over. 1
PapaDisco Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 No cigars, but a nip of whiskey seems helpful for most colds.
Bsonwine Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 1 part boiling water, 1 part whisky and a teaspoon of honey. It doesn’t cure the common cold but it does make it bareable. No smoking usually.
retrofail Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 A nice hot toddy is the drink of the day when I’m ill. As far as smoking, I have a fair stockpile of regrettable NC purchases I’ll reach for. Gotta smoke ‘em eventually. ?
oliverdst Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I will understand "sick" as flu or cold. Smoke - never Drink - sometimes
TNT009 Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Drink yes.... But lighting a cigar is a pure waste!
Napa_Smokes Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Personally neither. I do understand a drink depending on what it is, it’s just not for me. Smoking anything is a waste, and typically makes me feel a lot worse.
cigcars Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Being a teetotaler I don't drink liquor at all - as for my beloved stogies...I won't even open my humidor lest I spread those cold germs into that environment. I once had an order from the Czar which arrived just as I'd unfortunately caught the sniffles. I let those bad boys stay in the package untouched until I was fully recovered. Did not want to contaminate my stash with cold germs, period. And no - smoking is pointless during that period as I can't smell or taste anything.
Dozerhead Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 If I am too sick to enjoy the cigar then I won't bother. I don't want to waste a potentially great smoke when I can't appreciate it properly. If it is a cold or sinus issue then definitely not since it will negatively affect the taste.
maxcjs0101 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I seldom get Colds/Flu but sore throats quite often so no.
anacostiakat Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 It is a real waste to attempt to smoke with a cold. A hot toddy is nice if you feel up to it. On a better note. I just had my flu shot Friday.
