One of my favorite cigars. Don't want it all the time but I do get the urge and it fits the bill.

Don't think I can take anything larger though. This is about as big as I can comfortably smoke.

Had one a couple nights ago...just fantastic.

Thoroughly covered and thoroughly disappointing. My feelings are detailed in the thread below. Flavour wise, it is a grand slam. Really a spectacular cigar. Unfortunately the size is just unpleasent for me. I have been perusing some lesser known (to me) corners of the HSA catalogue searching for an alternative since they were released.

The 56 is one of my favourite cigars. The price point does sting though so I have a box and a few singles and won't be buying any more. The ring gauge isn't one that I enjoy, but it's such a great smoke! Just imagine how good that profile would be in a lancero or Lonsdale!

People have different opinions, and we are all entitled to have one. I love larger cigars, hopefully they start making some 60 gauge! The market will accommodate what the people want most...

where will it end?  56 ring gauge and $23.00 each seems to be the trend.

sorry though, I will never buy these.

Bring back the skinnies !!

Agree, this is pretty brutal on both the jaw and the pocket, annoyingly the only 2 I've had were both fabulous.  Strangely I had a really dark slightly rosado Epicure Especial, which tasted very similar. Mag 56 are very nice, but I would go fro a 50 every time, much more class, much more poise.

One of my all-time favorites.  Have a box waiting in OLH. Those on hand are gone. ElPrez says he wanted to hate them but just couldn't they were so damned good....

Why can't they do it every time?!?

Not being a commercial purveyor of cigars, my solution to this dilemma is to never try them in the first place.

I am a big fan of these suckers (almost as much as the 520, almost)...so much so I bought a bunch when I was flying back from vacation from Istanbul. Annoyed that I got into them late. I had been searching everywhere for them after a friend gifted one last winter...so when the boxes appeared I grabbed as much as I could carry.

Out of interest, for those who have smoked them regularly, how are they developing from the initial release? I would hate to call my box back from the locker too late!

Sorry, but I think you meant Mag 54.

Or is there a new Mag 56 being released?

The Mag 56 came out in 2015 as an LE. I missed (actually ignored) it when it came out. Finally sampled one in late 2016 and have been a fan ever since.

Gauge is crap.
Price is crap.
Quality of the leaf is great.
Flavor profile is superb.

Damn you, HSA.

This.

This ring gauge really is my limit, above 56 it just gets uncomfortable for me. Luckily these cigars are so good I almost forget the ring gauge.

I've only smoked one, which was gifted to me from a fellow forum member (whose generosity is greatly appreciated).  I'm not a fan of large ring gauge cigars and I wanted to hate it.  However, like many others who wanted to hate it, I ended up loving the flavors.  It's not so good that I have to buy a cab, but I'm very glad I tried it.

Edit re first post in the wrong place so deleted.

Regarding Mag 56, I was able to get a box from a friend and look forward to trying one soon. Not my favorite size but still something I would reach for on occasion; much like a BHK 56 I'll really enjoy every once and a while.
