Just got these from the LCDH in Milan Italy. They are a 2015 Regional release but look at the date stamp. It it common for Habanos to hold back stock and ship a year later with an older date stamp. Just curious.

The Don Jose was released very late in 2015, and the box date reflects the date the cigars actually leave the factory. They could have been rolled in late Dec only to leave the factory a few weeks later. Nothing to be alarmed about.

Nice score regardless. Haven't heard much about how these are coming along, but the DJ was generally less well received than the Selectos Finos. Would like to get some feedback a year later to see how they're coming along. Let us know.

Well they didn't actually get released until late 2015. First boxes I got were OPG AGO 15. Totally fine to have JAN 16 box.

May I ask where in Milan you bought them.  I don't think it would against the rules.  I may be in that area of Italy

soon and have neaver been to Milan.  If It is a smoke shop I'm sure there is no issue in telling a

avid traveler / rabid habanos nut.

I too like them, smoked one last summer and was impressed.  I read some reviews that weren't so glowing...  Italy has a great Regional track record.

They are a fine follow up to the Selectos Finos.  Very similar traits IMO.  Bold and strong from the start with lots of aging potential.  I'm eyeing one for my afternoon smoke today.  :D  IIRC, these were originally slated to be Churchill sized.  WTH happened?

I liked the few singles that I've smoked but I haven't found anything "special" that would justify a box at that price.

Same.

Any thoughts on the Selectos Finos? Comparisons?

I have smoked only one Selectos Finos, but I have had the luck to smoke a few vintage Longos, thanks to a great BOTL from Greece.

The Longos was an outstanding cigar. Its DNA was much more present in the SF (maybe due to the ±similar size) than in the Don Jose.

That said if you can afford the Don Jose go for it, it's a cigar with “finesse”, a peculiarity that is becoming rare today.

After smoking a couple from my box and then another couple from another, I got rid of them fast. I did NOT like at all.

MUCH prefer the DJ

Gotta say I wasn't a fan at first, but these are really growing on me - every one I smoke is better then the last.
