El Presidente Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Ahhh to dream I was given a briefing yesterday on the blind auction process for the 49 Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor Cabinets. I will have more details in the coming weeks. Right now there appears to be more holes in the process than a slice of Swiss cheese. The reserve appears to be 55000 Euros. However that fair sum of coin is unlikely to get you one. How much moola will I need to stump you may ask? We don't know is the reply I think the distributors are as confused on the process as I. It will be sorted out in the coming weeks. If you have your heart set on one then drop me a PM or e-mail and I will keep you in the loop and run your inquiry through PCC. Naturally, all correspondence will be confidential. No....I won't be bidding personally “Cohiba 50 Aniversario” humidor cabinet. This piece is an authentic work of art and a unique collector’s item, and heralds a true innovation in terms of traditional craftsmanship and technical design. The humidor is lined with real Cuban tobacco leaves plated with 24-carat gold. This is a limited series of 50 humidors, all numbered and personalised with the owner’s name. Each humidor contains 50 Habanos with a vitola of the same name, and is also unique in the size of its ring gauge, being the first in the history of Habanos to offer 60 mm (60 mm ring gauge x 178 mm length). 1

topdiesel Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I guess they are taking a page out of Ghurka's marketing manifesto. If there are people who are willing to spend that much money on cigars, more power to them. I am sure it will be a fantastic centerpiece to their collection. For the guy or gal who can afford this, how many do they buy? if you fall in love with the cigar, you only have 50 of them. Stock up, go deep, or regret it when they are two or three times the price in a year.
MooseAMuffin Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 One sec, I'll check my couch and get back to you.
El Presidente Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 I'll take 2...do they take checks? Done. Deposit will be required. Deposit Cheques (refundable) will need to clear before Auction 1

oliverdst Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 What I understood is that the start bidding price is 149.000 Maybe 50 is just to be "accepted" as a bidder and later these 50 are discounted.
luv2fly Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 You must be regretting that now Yes I am!!! If only! 1
TomF Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Wait...Did I read that right? Minimum of €55,000 for 50 cigars? Minimum of €1100 per cigar? And 60 RG? No thanks... 1

Popular Post ayepatz Posted May 13, 2016 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2016 Pricey. Anyone else think the wrappers seem a touch on the light side? 7
scap99 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Pricey. Anyone else think the wrappers seem a touch on the light side? Cohiba.jpg That cigar's strong enough to chip a tooth. 2
kuma Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Well I guess that leaves me out on a couple of fronts. 1st the RG is not easy to handle. Think of all the discontinuded stoogies you could brigh back. Saint Luis Rey - Lonsdales, PUNCH - Super Selection #1, Rafael Gonzales - Lonsdales, El Rey Del Mundo - Gran Corona Anejado, La Gloria - Med. d'or no. 3, Quai D'Orsay - Gran Corona, QDO - Panetelas, SCDLH - Muralla, Mercaderes, Oficios, Sancho Panza - Bachilleres, Corona Gigante, Boliva - Corona Gigante, Corona Extra, Petit Corona Cabinet, Gold Medals, Partagas - Serie Connaisseur #3, Granted some of these smokes are not the "cats meow" that great but RG 60 please can I come up for some air Habanos!

I have a gut feel that minimum will not get close I think you have to discount that they are cigars at all. Buyers will see it as a piece of art, a collectable (perhaps). I have mates who will drop that on a painting or piece of abstract modern art with little thought. This to me is in the same realm if you view it through those glasses. I am not in that realm nor own those glasses 2
zeedubbya Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Prez, is there any chance of us seeing a humidor or two of Majestuoso 1966 come through? A 50th anniversary cigar which you don't have to have generational wealth to get ahold of. I'm sure there's Cohiba fanatics who would be willing to shell out the coin to get ahold of a these maybe? About same production numbers as Bushidos so I guess we should assume about same price then huh? Hahahahaha!

zeedubbya Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Let's wait for the Montecristo 80th first Next time I'm in Cancun I'll go see that same nice fella who so graciously sold me the Monte 80, and demand a Majestuoso 1966---he must attend the Festival. No wait his brother works at the factory. Eh semantics...
poorman Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Closest I'll get to one of these is when USA cigar land guy (Urs?) posts a picture of his personal dozen.
