El Presidente Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I just don't smoke them often enough to be able to advise with any authority. To your taste. The best current (2013-15) inexpensive Tubos out of Cuba today. Let us know why and if you can. what you pay 1
PapaDisco Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Partagas Coronas Seniors. This was a random purchase, and through FOH on the *****INT site (that url still trips the 'porno' firewall many places I travel! ). I keep an eye out for something small that works out for a pre-dinner smoke, or to hand out to someone new who's a bit intimidated by a Churchill or Corona Gorda (the most common sizes in my pocket). The tube makes it any easy grab and go, and I like ordering a few of my regular sizes in tubos, although most of my stock is without. Have also tried the R&J Romeo #3, and Mille Fleur in the tubo and liked both as well although the Coronas Senior remains my favorite of the bunch and easiest to smoke ROTT. My #3's remain spicy to this day (1 year on) and likely a challenge for giving to an occasional smoker, the Mille Fleurs showed a significant change from nippy and harsh on arrival to something gentler since; but the Coronas Seniors have been solid, flavorful and well rounded from the start. Like any smaller format, it's easy to smoke it too fast and burn up all the flavors, so take any of these with a gentle, measured pace.
garbandz Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Upmann Coro Major are around 133.00 Hoyo Coronations around 125.00 Like to keep these in stock, love the freshness of a tubo........... 1
WhiteMamba Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Definitely a fan of the upmann corona major and the punch coronation is pretty descent. Tubos aren't my favorite but they're great for travel.
CaptainQuintero Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Another Upmann Corona major fan here. Quintero Panetelas come tubed in the UK also, a big fan obviously
topdiesel Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Love the Bolivar Tubos 2,3,1 in that order. The prices on the #1's you offered a couple weeks ago was the best price I had seen in a while and I unfortunately received a sold out email from Di tubos 3 best price 110-115 tubos 2 best price 149, but have not been around as plentifully lately.
Smallclub Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 ... and Mille Fleur in the tubo None of the Mille Fleur (Partagas or RyJ) comes in tubos.
Bartolomeo Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Punch Punch tubos in last 3 years have been enjoyable 2
westg Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Always grab a handful of Punch coronations when traveling. Picked up some on the weekend. Airport duty free. 1
DBeets77 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just acquired a couple Upmann corona majors; haven't smoked them yet, but after reading this I'm looking forward to it. But I'll probably have to go with RYJ No. 3 for now.
JoeyW Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 HdM corronation are in tubo, i got some at home and they are quit nice .
Smoker Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Bolivars are my favourite, although I haven't tried that many different tubos. When I started out, tubos were the most ubiquitous variety available locally, and so I went through a period of smoking only these.
lestabantam Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I have to give the montecristo petit tubos a mention. I've had a few brilliant ones over the last few years. 1
ChefBoyRG54 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Punch coronation for me, hidden gems. ~$130/25ct 4
Troels Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Punch and hdm coronations has been great at times, poor at times - always pay way too much as I buy singles from local b&m on impulse. 1
Smallclub Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I have to give the montecristo petit tubos a mention. I've had a few brilliant ones over the last few years. The petit tubos is certainly not an "inexpensive tubos": it costs about 25% more than the Monte 4 in most countries... 2
MPS Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Another vote for the Bolivars here especially the #1 & 2. If you have the patience to lay them down or find some nice 5-10 year old ones they are well worth it. 1
BigRay023 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 So when do we get to see some of these tubos on 24:24, Boss? I'd love some for work smokes, grab a couple and go. No fuss, no worries!
lestabantam Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 The petit tubos is certainly not an "inexpensive tubos": it costs about 25% more than the Monte 4 in most countries... Fair point, compared to some of the larger tubos they are cheap, or at least cheaper.
garbandz Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 the Monte petit tubos I have had were visually beautiful, and excellent smokes. I like the cigar in the round personally, but not for 8.00 each. I will just make do with the #4...........
Lotusguy Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 the Monte petit tubos I have had were visually beautiful, and excellent smokes. I like the cigar in the round personally, but not for 8.00 each. I will just make do with the #4........... Sorry for the slight OT, but for me, the extra cost is worth the consistently better performance of the Petit Tubo over the regular Monte 4. Not sure why they are better, but in my experience, they have always been. Once my current (last) box of Monte 4 runs out, I will switch over fully.
earthson Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Punch coronation for me, hidden gems. ~$130/25ct Shhhhhh! Can't comment on recent batches, but older ones in the silver tube are simply perfect right now.
ChefBoyRG54 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Shhhhhh! Can't comment on recent batches, but older ones in the silver tube are simply perfect right now. Those too:)Don't tell anyone!
MrGTO Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 The petit tubos is certainly not an "inexpensive tubos": it costs about 25% more than the Monte 4 in most countries... Inexpensive is relative to the individual.... I like the R&J #2. It was one of my first CC's. I got the twang of a Cuban and have never looked back.
earthson Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Those too:) Don't tell anyone! Wow. Just noticed Sterling Heights under your avatar. I'm originally from Warren, though haven't lived there since the late 90s. How is ole Sterile Whites? That's the city I first got drunk in!
