El Presidente Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I received this e-mail yesterday and while I have responded, I also said I would also put the edited exert on the forum to gauge other members thoughts. The more ideas the better! " I watch yourself and ken talk about "fresh fruit" notes in a cigar. I also watch you talk about "stewed fruits". I think I know what you are talking about but I am at a loss to realize those flavors personally. I smoke mainly Partagas and that could explain it as I don't think you have used either of those descriptions for a Partagas Cigar. Could you please give me a recommendation of two to three cigars which exhibit a "fresh fruitiness" on the palate and two to three cigars that exhibit a "Stewed Fruit" note on the palate."
Boosted Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 For me, I get loads of stewed fruit on RAG and Superiores.
busdriver Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I got my first taste of fruit last week in a RA regional edition paises bajos robust corto. The name is to long but a nice powerful smoke. Had a couple puffs of "stone fruit".
ShortFatHokie Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 SLR Regio and H Upmann Magnum 50 for "fresh fruit", and young PLPC for "stewed fruit"....at least, with my taster. The Bolivar Royal Corona from the blind tasting also had some "stewed fruit" notes, not sure if that's the norm since I've only smoked a few of them.
polarbear Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Stewed Fruit- RA Sup Fresh Fruit/ Stone Fruit- SLR A, Mag 50
... Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 The Punch Punch and Punch DC I've had exhibited a tangy fruit aspect to them...
SCgarman Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Consensus seems to be anything Ramon Allones has a fruit note in there somewhere. All I know is the RASS is a complex blend with many different flavor notes and probably still my favorite cigar.
Bartolomeo Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Regio Punch Punch Serie A Dip 4 Off the top of my head
Schumi5 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Stone Fruit (Fresh) - Magnum 50 without doubt Stewed Fruit - RASS
maxcjs0101 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I've rarely gotten fruit in my cigars. Most often flavours are tea, wood, floral, vegetal, chocolate, coffee but very seldom fruit.
MIKA27 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Cherries in a Partagas D4 around 2/3 Ken tastes Tinned fruits in everything!
subport Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Fresh fruit: Rass, ra superiores, Stone fruit: mag 50, slr a, regio and ryj ex4 as cherry
mk05 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Fresh fruit = 1990's La Corona cigars, LRE09/POL10 Bolivar Royal Corona Stewed fruit = 1990's Cuaba, POS05 RASS, OSU02 RAG Smell of fruits/flowers = 1990's-04 Briones Montoto cigars
CaptainQuintero Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Fresh fruit/stone fruit has to be Upmann mag 50, just out there by a mile. SLR (either) as a second Stewed fruit; Cuaba distinguidos, RyJ ex4 or Cazadorez No need for aging any of these to get the flavours imo
westg Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I just laughed when I heard Rob mention that saint Luis Rey series A tasted like green apple...until I tried my first one from a 50 cab mind you.... I got it green apple . I have to agree mag 50 from 2014 apricot and stewed fruit... one of my top five cigars this year. As always can be hit and miss with cigars..best of luck and don't be scared to try something different
Geo17pip Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Luis Rey series A - green apple Mag 50 - Stone friut Ryj - Cherryish I get a fruitiness from JL PC RAS and RASCC fruity

Fumadoro Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Big cherry notes on RyJ Ex No 4. I've gotten some stewed fruit notes off of Bolivar, but this is a rarity. RASS seems to be the popular one for stewed fruit flavors.
avaldes Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Mk05, it is funny, I have smoked all of those same cigars on your list. I especially remember some '98 R&J Ex#4 from BM that were incredibly fruity smelling! I haven't thought of those cigars in a LONG time. PS- Those 02 RAGS from OSU used to make me sick each time I smoked one in the first five years! 1
ogus Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Y'all need to do something about your RASS. No fruit or veg in mine, just meat.

And those OSU02 RAGs are to die for now, just like all the OSU02 LGCs!
